CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS????

Have you read the greatest Malaysian joke in cyberspace? If you have not, get ready for a lot of laughs at THIS LINK. I think my eyeballs nearly popped out when I read this article that is so mischievous and bordering absurdities and lunacy! I am surprised the writer even reported it and wonder why it was even carried by the MSM in the first place. Why are the authorities concerned not taking this organization to task for such statements?

Excerpt:

Malay nationalist group Perkasa warns that the Chinese community will use the next general election to take over the country.

Perkasa feels that the last general election weakened the Malays and empowered the Chinese community.

Dr Zubir Harun, director of Perkasa’ economic bureau, who was at the Malay Consultative Council’s (MPM) round-table discussion, said during his presentation that a divided Malay community will empower the other races.

According to delegates at the discussion and documents received by The Malaysian Insider, Perkasa wants the New Economic Policy (NEP) to be the “spirit” of the New Economic Model (NEM).

“Perkasa believes that disunity among the Malays has weakened Umno, causing the non-Malays to be more vocal in their demands. They say that the Chinese are also blackmailing the government to give in to their demands by threatening to vote for Pakatan Rakyat,” said one of the delegates.

Zubir also said that Perkasa is worried that the New Economic Model will have a Chinese agenda.

“The Chinese people feel that the next general election is the best opportunity for them to gain power in this country.

“This is why Chinese NGOs, such as Ziong Dong and Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce, are using this chance to make demands of the government. If their demands are not met, then they will vote Pakatan Rakyat who are willing to give everything to the Chinese,” he elaborated in his presentation. Click HERE to read more.

Some questions:

* How is it that some people or MSM can get away with any statement even if these can incite racial tension?

* What is said in this article goes against the New Economic Model which could indirectly mean that they do not give their support to the PM which could be interpreted as the absence of loyalty to the Head of government which could mean.......!!!

* Do the remarks in this article sound seditious? If so, how come the people concerned have not been hauled up for questioning?

* Some of the statements are insulting to UMNO. I wonder if these characters are still UMNO members and if they are, how come they have not been hauled up for disciplinary action?

* Why are Chinese the scapegoats???

* Does the speaker concerned have any intention of instigating certain quarters? If the authorities perceive it as such, how come he seems to have special immunity like the other infamous MSM?

I hope that leaders from both sides of the divide and other organizations such as Chinese NGOs, such as Ziong Dong and Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce will speak out against such malicious and mischievous statements which do nothing positive for this country. What an outrage!!!

I could go on and on but I am sure you, dear reader, can see more than I can at the moment. Please leave a comment to share your view of this situation. Thanks! Have a lovely evening.

Isn't it time for them to speak out?

    edward Dear MWS,

This is what happens when low IQ and schizophrenia get mixed together. This riling of the masses is dangerous and irresponsible, does nothing but detriments the well being of the country.

I would be extremely pleased if someone from a minority ethnic group should one day lead the country. That will ultimately reflect the people's maturity and wisdom in choosing leaders - not by the colour of his/her skin but the content of their character(to paraphrase Martin Luther King)

if only they channeled their resources and educate themselves to keep ahead instead of harping to the world over their perceived weakness and inability to compete with other races.

Then again, look at the bright side. It is statements like his that burns the good Malays who are trying to work hard and succeed without handouts and proof to the world that they are not the morons that he said they are, and at the same time scaring the shit out of the moronic nons who have been dutifully voting in BN all the years. Every time BN spews venom, the votes go to Pakatan Rakyat.
In fact, I would appreciate if this moron would go further to say that the government should revoke the citizenship of all non-Malays. That would be very nice. Go on, moron, make my day.

There are many types of Chinese who are quite variegated/diversed in outlook - more than even Indians. It is doubtful that people are usually prejudiced on the basis of skin color but much likely from the commonly perceived behavorial aspect of things.

WRT to the KBP, most of the Indians seem to have accepted that generous deal after such a mutually damaging drama fanned big by Hindraf against the PR government of Penang.

Anonymous From the article in Asia Sentinel on The New Malay Dilemma

"Najib appears to be caught in a trap of his own, with a widening gap between what he would like to do as an economist and what a major chunk of his United Malays National Organization constituency wants. What they want is not only to not forward but to repeal the limited reforms he has already put in place, and they are increasingly angry about it."

"Both Mahathir and Badawi talked incessantly about the need to create a high-growth economy built on technology and industrialization, Mahathir by establishing the so-called multimedia super corridor and the national car, the Proton, as well as a long series of other projects, many of which were largely unsuccessful. Badawi sought to attract investment in high-tech industries including pharmaceuticals and medical technology as well as bioscience. But many economists argue that without removing the impediments of the NEP, Najib will be as unsuccessful as his predecessors."

"Najib has repeatedly said the country is confronted by a new reality, given the stagnating economy, which shrank by 3.3 percent in 2009 and faces relatively anemic 3.7 percent growth in 2010 and 5.0 percent in 2011. Last year, he removed a requirement mandating ethnic Malay participation in 27 economic sub-sectors as well as removing a requirement that 30 percent of shares in IPOs go to ethnic Malays."

"That has played a major role in stoking ethnic Malay anger, although some observers say the leaders of the Malay Consultative Council are actually UMNO wheelhorses who fear the loss of their perks instead of the wider community."

"One of the leaders of the Malay rights groups is an NGO called Perkasa, which is headed by an independent member of parliament named Ibrahim Ali, a long time Mahathir ally and former UMNO stalwart. It has been holding strident rallies across the country, demanding close adherence to the Malays-first policy. Some pessimists say Perkasa members are trying to provoke the Chinese into a confrontation with the Malays that will result in the imposition of the country's draconian Internal Security Act ISA. One Malay businessman told Asia Sentinel that "UMNO leaders who are not particularly sympathetic to its aims are climbing onto the speakers' platforms to endorse them because they're afraid not to.""

It is preposterous that the Chinese community is again targeted as the sole cause of the New Malay Dilemma. This ultra-rightist myth is a delusion.

Many ordinary Malaysians have stoically accept their predicament in a highly competitive, globalized world. Their only hope is for the country to modernize ASAP.

Controversial affirmative racially skewed/divisive political, social and economic policies from the 70's together with their misguided and/or flawed implementation is the actual cause.

The solution lies with rapid transformation of government policies, not with retrogressive policies which will further erode confidence in the viability of the country for investment. The stakes are very high and will affect all Malaysians in the future.

  1. says:

Anonymous May I refer to the comments made by Anon @ 1.35am.

I don’t buy what you said about the Chinese hating the Indians and I won’t even waste my time trying to convince you to change your perception because it is personal and peculiar to individuals.

But let me say this; in this era of globalization, racial prejudice is no longer practical as more and more people forge their social, educational, recreational, religious, and economic relationships with peoples of different countries and nationalities.

Your personal prejudices are most likely the result of your limited exposure and interaction with peoples of different races and nationalities. Sure, there are racists all over the world, Malaysia including, because there are millions of individuals like you who have, whether deliberately or due to the lack of opportunities, a small circle of equally prejudiced individuals participating in your passage through life.

I am a businessman and in the course of my work, I travel a lot and interact with people of many races and nationalities. Like you, I’ve friends and enemies too. I’ve worked with people who are hardballs, softballs, and even some who have no balls. But I realized that it is not their race that made them who they are. It is just their character, rightly, or wrongly molded by their parents at home, or by their community elders, or by friends whom they socialize with, or by colleagues or employers at their workplace. Worst of all, through indoctrination by racist political parties.

In its natural form, humans, and indeed even animals, are seldom, if ever, prejudiced. If you raise a child, or orphan, of a different race, the child will grow up to love you, even though you may look physically different. If a dog nurses a lion cub, the cub will grow up to love the dog even though it is a lion.

Here in Malaysia, my own country, I can see that UMNO, MCA, and MIC are all doing a great job dividing its citizens, teaching them to how to hate and to be suspicious of each other. So, we end up with people like you with distorted and negative impressions of each other.

You must stop stereotyping an individual by race, but instead, rate a person by his personal traits. When I interview a person for employment, I only access him/her by his educational credentials, his work and life experiences and social values. BUT NEVER BY RACE, COLOR OR RELIGION.

So go ahead and hate the Chinese or whatever other race that you’re unhappy with, but let me tell you this - your real enemy is BN. They made you what you are.

I’m going for a banana leaf dinner made by my long time Indian friend. Cheers.
