START WHERE YOU STAND

After all the exits of various people and defections, I thought it appropriate to post this inspirational poem with the hope that PKR will be rebuilding, reinventing and fortifying itself for further offensives from within and without. This poem, aptly called "START WHERE YOU STAND" was written by Berton Braley who was born in Madison, Wisconsin. He inherited his father's talent in writing and had shown his talent at even at a young age. At 11 he published his first work - a fairy tale called "Why The Grass Is Green".

Braley was considered a person who is always optimistic and held the belief that everything is possible. At high school he played football and finished high school in two years instead of the normal three. Something that his teacher wanted him to believe to be impossible.

In his life Braley had written around 11,000 verses and several hundered short stories, making him one of the most widely read American poet of his era. This evening, be inspired by his poem - "START WHERE YOU STAND". Be inspired and know that you can make a difference wherever you may be, if you would only begin where you are...

START WHERE YOU STAND

Start where you stand and never mind the past,
The past won't help you in beginning new,
If you have left it all behind at last
Why, that's enough, you're done with it, you're through;
This is another chapter in the book,
This is another race that you have planned,
Don't give the vanished days a backward look,
Start where you stand.

The world won't care about your old defeats
If you can start anew and win success,
The future is your time, and time is fleet
And there is much of work and strain and stress;
Forget the buried woes and dead despairs,
Here is a brand new trial right at hand,
The future is for him who does and dares,
Start where you stand.

Old failures will not halt, old triumphs aid,
To-day's the thing, to-morrow soon will be;
Get in the fight and face it unafraid,
And leave the past to ancient history;
What has been, has been; yesterday is dead
And by it you are neither blessed nor banned,
Take courage, man, be brave and drive ahead,
Start where you stand.

    QQ Many things happen in life. If all is plain sailing, we can never grow and develop as human beings. Experiencing problems, big and small, gives us the golden opportunity to be bold, exuberant, courageous and strong!

    Please never, never, never be defeated.

    Let's have the inner fortitude to laugh off hardships and keep going with unflagging optimism and dignity.

    Your comment is certainly timely. There could be those who are ready to throw in the towel. Some could have abandoned ship. Others could be rationalizing that their passivity is a good decision after all...

    While some could still be hard at work mooting for change.

    We have to face adversity face to face and definitely keep on going, smiling and you are right....to keep going with unflagging optimism and dignity!!!

    Thanks for that upbeat comment!!

    Take care and God bless you!

    Anonymous Dear Selvi, Perhaps you're not aware that Gandhi's teaching is not a complete fail-safe philosophy ; it never worked in South Africa. He, furthermore, was also a Holocaust supporter!

    Anonymous There is actually no problem with PAS and DAP. It is only the PKR folks. Most of them are ex-UMNO men and want to practise the UMNO culture in the states where the PR is in power.

    Unknown It's good for this kind of rubbish MPs quit PRK. Afterall, there are opportunists that only look for short term benefit. Since PR is not working like UBN that share the nation wealth among the MPs or ADUN, and cronies after take over state government, they will use any reason to quit PR and join the billionaire BN.

    If 1 day PR capture the federal government, we will see a lot of UNMO leaders will quit UMNO and join PR for personnel benefit.

    The most important lesson here is never never vote these rubbish anymore in future (not only GE13 but every election). Vote out the rubbish to show all MPs and ADUNs that we are the boss.

    While for the 2/3 majority, it's not easy for BN to re-capture. From 222 seats, 2/3 majority is 148 seats. BN got 140 seats and PR 82 seat in 308. SAPP quited BN and PAS won KT by-election, BN left 137 seats. Zahrain and Tan quit PKR, BN add to 139 seats. If Ibrahim and Zul Nordin quit PR, BN will get 141 seats. There are still 7 seats more to ensure BN get 2/3 majority.

    Among the 3 members of PR, the possibility of PAS & DAP MPs quit is very low, left only PKR. If the 3 frogs I mentioned quit, PKR left 28 seats. So, will 7 of 28 MPs of PKR quit?

    Sarawak election will coming. If PR lose badly in the election, then there may be more MPs or ADUNs quit PR. If the result shows PR significantly win more seats than now, then the these opportunists will hold back from jumping ship. Furthermore, the Sarawak parties may quit BN and join PR. The situation will be totally reversed.

    So, let's see Sarawak election result.
