For example, an avid duck hunter was in the market for a new bird dog. His search ended when he found a dog that could actually walk on water to retrieve a duck. Shocked by his find, he was sure none of his friends would ever believe him.
He decided to try to break the news to a friend of his, a pessimist by nature, and invited him to hunt with him and his new dog. As they waited by the shore, a flock of ducks flew by. they fired, and a duck fell.
The dog responded and jumped into the water. The dog, however, did not sink but instead walked across the water to retrieve the bird, never getting more than his paws wet. This continued all day long; each time a duck fell, the dog walked across the surface of the water to retrieve it.
The pessimist watched carefully, saw everything, but did not say a single word.
On the drive home the hunter asked his friend, "Did you notice anything unusual about my new dog?" "I sure did," responded the pessimist. "He can't swim."

In life, we have a choice to be either an optimist, a pessimist or even a hopeful pessimist...What do you think? Do leave a comment to share your views. Thanks. Have a nice day!

KoSong Cafe I will readily admit that I am positively a pessimist. My other half is just the opposite, and so we are like chalk and cheese.
Having used to doing things her way, it is either her way or the highway whenever there was serious disagreement.
Knowing the weaknesses of being a pessimist, I allow the children full freedom, so much so that I have virtually no say in what they decide.
You can imagine how I felt when my daughter decided to spend one summer in Mexico, travelling the length and breadth of it, even crossing over to Guatemala for a dip in the lake! Her bus trips included one 18-hour journey by herself.
I believe we are fated one way or the other and there is nothing worrying can do about it. That was a big step in overcoming my anxieties and so on.
Meanwhile, I am still ever cautious about the likely mishaps in all situations and take necessary precautions!

Anonymous Yes, let's be optimist!
Let's hope Tee Yong can prove his worth, just like his father who has become a famous porn-star!

Anonymous waiting for Tee Yong to tell us that we "eat too much rice"(like his forbear did)!

nick Sis,
Maybe Malaysia should buy the dog instead of the submarine! Heck, a dog which can walk on water is much much better than a sub that can't submerge!
BUT then again, it might be a prank by the Frenchies. They put that flaw in the design so much so, the sub (every time the navy want to use the sub, that is) they have to bring the First trolley aboard as the ballast weight, maybe?:-). A grand gesture from the French to remind us of the "Dead weight" in Malaysian (kitchen) cabinet.
GOD bless us all Sis and laughter is truly the best medicine for sorrow.
Nick.

Anonymous Whether we are optimist or pessimist, it is still better than being a recalcitrant racist. Some people thougt that this world owes them a living and when not born with silver spoon, manipulate the systems to provide them "silver or gold" for life.

I used to be a hardcore pessimist but now I am a hopeful pessimist thanks to my optimistic hubby who has taught me to let go, let God and not to worry that much.
Phew! A big load off my chest now...I still have a long way to go but it has been a milestone in my life.
I love your daughter's adventurous spirit! How I wish I had her guts when I was her age.
I am also like you in wanting to be safe than sorry :-).
Take care and thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences.
Have a great weekend!
