What Job Adverts Really Mean :-)

Advertisements tend to make jobs appear more attractive than what they are in reality. Here is a list of what could be the hidden messages posted just for laughs so please do not take this seriously. Take care, smile a lot and have a nice day!

"Competitive Salary" means we remain competitive by paying you less than our competition.

"Join our fast-paced company" i.e. We have no time to train you.

"Casual work atmosphere" also means we don't pay enough to expect that you will dress up; a couple of
the real daring guys wear earrings.

"Some overtime required" means some every night and some every weekend.

"Duties will vary" i.e. to say anyone in the office can boss you around.

"Must have an eye for detail" could be saying we have no quality assurance.

"Career-minded" could be a sexist slant meaning female applicants must be childless (and remain that way).

"Apply in person" could mean that if you're old, fat or ugly you'll be told that the position has been filled.

"Seeking candidates with a wide variety of experience" means you'll need it to replace the three people who just quit.

"Problem-solving skills a must" could hint that you're walking into perpetual chaos.

"Requires team leadership skills" that is to say you'll have the responsibilities of a manager, without the pay or respect.

"Good communication skills" could mean that when the management communicates, you listen, figure out what they want and do it.

    nick Sis,

The opposite is true to our government and their work and remuneration.

    1. Competitive salary – it means that our minister’s salary is participating in a running contest with its appetite for larger public spending.
    2. Join our past (no typo here) pace company – our government is filled with the ancient and the obsolete ( a grouping of the past as opposed to the future).
    3. Some overtime required – over time here means that those who are obsolete and useless (over their time) are still recycled and still sit in high paying and leg shaking job. Good to those who have the penchant for changing mode or “once every 5 years erection” mentality.
    4. Duties will vary – expect kickbacks, commissions and personal levy and duty($$) during the tenure of employment. The amount is the thing that varies (with regards to how high is your position, that is!)
    5. Must have an eye for detail – How else can you spot the loophole or the opportunity to get some extra cash or kickback from any public work project and procurement?
    6. Career-minded- Anyone who is not “one of the gang” will have his career terminated. For the sake of your career-be mindful of your allegiance!
    7. Apply in person – If I don’t know you personally and so does my wife, then don’t call us, we’ll call you…NOT!
    8. Seeking candidates with wide variety of experience – Gomen are only looking for those who have these 3 attributes: Apple polishing, A** kissing and you help me, I help you..wink..wink!
    9. Problem solving skill a must! – err..actually that’s a typo! It’s supposed to read ‘problem creating skill' (to inflict on PR) is a must!
    10. Good communication skills – would essentially mean that The Gomen (meaning the minister) is the one doing the talking and directing whilst the rakyat are only supposed to do the listening and obeying!

How about that Sis? Sure fit them like a glove, huh?

Have a great day with your boys and GOD bless!

    Nick.

Anonymous 1)Compettive Salary - you must compete with the best in the company to be paid that way.

    2) Fast-paced company - staff and management changes faster than you can imagine.

    3) Casual work atmosphere - the atmosphere is so casual that we have no clock hung on the wall.

    4) Some overtime required - usually occurs at the last minute and needed to be done like yesterday.

    5) Duties will vary - absolutely true as fectching the children of bosses from school and driving them for tuition is part of the deal.

    6) Must have an eye for detail - you do as you are pleased but you bear responsibility for all that you do.

    7) Career-minded - we have your career minded i.e you have no where else to go beside us.

    8) Apply in person - we only take in people who can sing to the tune of the bosses.

    9) Seeking candidates with a wide variety of experience - we are after people who are capable in multi-taking. One leg kick all.

    10) Problem-solving skills a must -
just indicates that we have tons of unsolved issues at hand.

    11) Requires team leadership skills - we have many teams but no leader as yet including the boss.

    12) Good communication skills - since we came from Uni with no proper Engrish, we need someone who can be our mouthpiece.

    Unknown Dear Nick

As always, you have spoken very well here. Painful truths which all of us must be aware of.

Thank you for reminding us of these issues which we must never forget!! Only a sharp thinker like you can say it wittily and elegantly.

Take care and thanks for the wishes for me and my boys :-).

    Selamat berpuasa.

    Salam
