A Clean Bill of Health

This year, I lost a friend or a relative almost every month, mainly to various types of cancer. Last Wednesday, my old friend and guitar sifu, Ronnie Ng Kah Peng, passed away unexpectedly from Stage 4 cancer. I last saw him in June when I took my older boy to Art Tune Music Supplies at Kajang Road to buy a new electronic pedal for his guitar. Then, Ronnie jammed with my son. The news came as a terrible shock to me for I had no idea he was ill. Certainly, it has been a very disconcerting and rattling experience that has made me more health conscious. As such, my husband and I went for a thorough medical check-up last Thursday, compliments of a friend who wanted to give his support to Dr. Lim Kiang Wooi who had just opened his clinic at 4-G, Lebuh Sungei Pinang 1, Bandar Sri Pinang in the Jelutong area of Penang.

As we made our way to his clinic, I was quite fearful - needles and I are not the best of friends. Upon arrival at the clinic, I was pleased to see that this brand new clinic was very thoughtfully designed, carefully maintained and had a wide range of informative posters neatly arranged at the right eye-level. Brochures and information pamphlets were neatly arranged on the side table in the waiting area which had comfortable sofas lined against the wall.

When it was my turn, I entered the doctor's examination room gingerly with my husband, filled with much fear and trepidation. I told Dr. Lim that most doctors had immense difficulty trying to find my veins in both my arms and often resorted to the juicy ones on my hands.

Amazingly, Dr. Lim gently pushed the needle into my vein and I did not even feel it! Most definitely, he is one capable doctor! And my husband said the same thing.

A thorough scan of my major organs showed that I had no growth or abnormalities in all my vital organs. The ECG also showed that my heart is in good working condition and that I was not at risk for hypertension with a blood pressure reading of 110/70 and pulse rate of 67.

This evening, I picked up my blood and urine test lab results and am ecstatic that everything is within the normal range. My cholesterol level is within the normal range (an improvement from two years ago) and everything else is in great condition - no h-pylori, no thyroid, negative to 5 cancer markers! What a big relief!!!

Everyone should ideally go for regular medical checkups annually or at least twice a year. If you have yet to go for a medical check-up, I would highly recommend Dr. Lim Kiang Wooi who strikes me as a very dedicated and knowledgeable doctor. He was very thorough in administering the medical checkup for my husband and me, patiently explaining everything, step by step, prioritizing our well being and making sure we understood the implications and possibilities of how the results could change in various situations and how we could maintain our health condition.

Currently, his clinic is giving special promotions of free scans and other special deals. I am very fussy when it comes to medical care and have no qualms about recommending Dr. Lim to other Penangites. Thanks, Dr. Lim, for really being a wonderful testimony of the Hippocratic Oath and for your kindness and professionalism shown to my husband and to me! Check out his special offers @ 04 281 2290 and visit his clinic. I am writing this to raise awareness about the necessity of regular medical check-ups and also to share my thankfulness at finding such a good doctor, thanks to my husband's friend, Mr. Chew.

Take care, dear readers, and God bless you and yours with health, happiness and lots of love in your lives! Life is short - cherish and treasure it.

Anonymous Yeah, as you'd rightly said, Health is Wealth when we need them. What is there to gain if we can have everything we want on earth but can't get to enjoy them ? Worse of all is to "knock out" before our time and not even knowing it,... sudden take off ???

With you in the pink of health, can buy insurance in huge amount without excess premium. We buy insurance not because we want to claim it but to ensure that others who are still living do not suffer financially when we are not around.

I'm not an agent nor promoting insurance here but just to highlight another way of saving for the future if we can afford it now. When we aged further then the premiun will be too costly with certain health issue linked up like high BP and blood sugar.

Cheers for your clean bill and may you continue to light up the candle of others with your talents.

    Unknown Hi Ahoo

So lovely to have you back again. Indeed you are right. I am upgrading my medical insurance with this new development. Otherwise, I might have to pay more and get less as they normally slap exclusions for certain conditions.

At our age, we all have to go for check-ups annually and lead a healthy lifestyle.

Take care and may God bless you with health and happiness always!

    Shalom

UP41 Very soon many can afford to die but cannot afford to be sick with the way government is running the health care systems !!!!

Anonymous You are spot on UP41 ! The day may come that even dying is too expensive for those left behind to handle. By then, many will die standing, hahaha.

They may soon make it mandatory for companies to buy health insurance scheme. With that we can tell who are the schemers behind who have insurance companies in their stable.
