Ai Tze May I add one quote in the “Powerful Quotes” post?
It was during the Labour Party Conference of 1986.
It was Neil Kinnock’s first party conference as Leader of the Labour Party.
Kinnock was trying to steer the party from the Left to the Centre because the country was being dominated by Thatcher - and the Unions were being trampled upon by her, with the people’s blessing no less.
However, on that fateful day of 18th Sep, he had to deal with the Left as the day’s debate was about Unilateral Nuclear Disarmament; a topic much loved by the Left and Neil himself, as he was very much from the left of the Labour party.
I was glued to the live broadcast as I could not see how he was going to steer his party to the centre ground – to a Multi-lateral Nuclear Disarmament position.
The uncertainty of what he was going to say, mixed with hostility of half of the hall and the excited anticipation of the press, filled the room with much electricity.
He was not the usual long-winded Neil that we all loved and hate (ok – maybe he was a bit), but he was brilliant. He was on fire.
And then he said the words that got into me – into my inner soul so deep that I choked. Tears welled, No, they streamed down my face as I saluted the man. Yes, Neil Kinnock, the man who later made me cringed by the way he led the Labour party into a Presidential campaign and needlessly lost the election because of it.
But at that moment in time, Neil Kinnock was my hero.
“I will die for my country first before I let my country die for me”.

Anonymous What is most valubles is not what we have in our lives, but WHO we have in our lives.
Only the right belief will get you to eternity and not any belief.
We cannot get what we've never had, unless we are willing to do what we've never done. For that we need to persuade more fence sitters to be on the right side to see usher in a new dawn for Malaysia. Vote well and wisely.

Unknown Dear ahoo
Many thanks for the wise response to this post and the persuasive manner in which you have stirred us to vote correctly.
We need to do more and you are a model Malaysian in the way you go about doggedly to moot for change.
Take care and God bless you always!
Shalom
Starmandala Hmmm... like a gulp of Red Bull for the psyche, thanks! Okay... now to boot out the parasites that have been siphoning off all the nourishment meant for everybody - not just the Mahathirs, the Daims and Razaks!
