A CHAIN IS ONLY AS STRONG AS ITS WEAKEST LINK - written by A. Arthur

Democracy is retrograding fast in Malaysia under the current PM, where finally he has administered the coup de grace on taking back power in the Silver State. But this is not a genuine victory where the victors are lauded for their bravery, honesty and moral courage and the victory does not only belongs to the victors per se but to the rakyat and to the State.

This is a hollow victory where some resort to all sorts of chicanery, cloak and dagger side shows, political horse trading and alleged immoral means of deflection.

Now all these are water under the bridge. Nizar has to bite the bullet and move on with his troops so that he lives to fight another day.

But if we are to look at it objectively, it may be a blessing in disguise to lose this battle.

Firstly, most of us would have gathered from the ominous political clouds that have been playing out for the past few months that this was a foregone conclusion.

If Nizar wins, he will have an uphill battle to fend off marauding and ferocious attacks by BN agent provocateurs or the power themselves in the administering of the State. Just look at the MB of Selangor or the CM of Penang and the various racial, political and social upheavals that happened over the last 10 months. It does not take a rocket scientist to deduce who are manipulating all these destabilizing and debilitating events that rupture the peace and harmony of the State.

Nizar may have to watch his back, guard his flanks and protect his front patch carefully but he has got a job to do and that means he must stick his neck out. He may trip and fall hard over the next two years if some catastrophic events, engineer or otherwise, will to happen and PR handles it badly. BN will make a big banquet meal out of it and PR will perhaps lose precious votes and Assembly Seats in the next GE.

PR is still nascent and inexperience in the whole gamut in the administration of the state as well as to play politics with the Federal Government. A number of ADUNs are still wet behind their ears having being elected in the last election not because of their track record of serving the rakyat but more so to spite BN by the rakyat. Moreover, Nizar has incurred the wrath of the Sultan and it will make his administration untenable without the tacit and the wholehearted support of the Silver Sultanate.

Now, Nizar, go and do a peaceful and tactical retreat.

Brainstorm with your troops, without any blamestorming, on your next battle and war plan.

See the bigger picture. Understand the nature of the forest as well as the terrain of the trees, shrubs and the geological outlay.

Go and weed out the would-be greedy and incompetent ADUNs who may be thinking of becoming a frog for many benefits.

Ensure your troops are squeaky clean.

Tell them to serve the rakyat.

Ingrain in them a spirit of esprit de corps among the different ADUN members of the coalition and engage the rakyat in whatever your team plans to do.

Remember that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

A Arthur Thanks to people like you, MWS, who devoted so much time and effort to write your blog.

And keep reminding the people who has not registered to go and cast forth their vote.

    JournoDownUnder Dear MWS,
Such strong words from your commenters here. You know, there are many ways to skin a cat, just as many ways to win elections. I've commented before about both sides of the fence. For the people, they need to see a real "alternative" when they go to the polls. Vengeance, must be acted intelligently. That, I haven't seen happening. What I do see is people (from both sides of the fence) spewing hatred here and there in despicable manner. That is shameful.

Anonymous Malaysia is in dire straits. From this article in The Malaysian Insider

"In a blistering report on Malaysia released at the end of January, PERC also asserted that a group of elite minorities were dominating the national agenda to the extent that it was hurting Malaysia’s attractiveness to investors."

"“Mr. Razak’s attempt to put the best spin on a bad situation is understandable. He is fighting for his political life and is trying to stop the erosion in confidence in Malaysia’s prospects,” said PERC. “However, he is wrong in saying that Malaysia is being defined by the way the majority of the population are coming together. It is being defined by the ability of a minority to dominate the political agenda, shaping policy and compromising the reputation of key institutions in ways that hurt Malaysia’s reputation as a stable, attractive place for foreign investors.”"

"PERC added Najib’s strategy is looking “increasingly unworkable” as a way to defuse pressures in the country."

"“He is trying to be all things to all people, but in the end he might satisfy no one,” it noted."

This latest episode in Perak further strengthen the impression that:

"A chain is only as strong as its weakest link"

    Unknown Dear JournoDownUnder

My thanks to you for your honest and timely advice. I do agree with your views. As it is, both sides of the divide do not impress and have flaws which I hope will be corrected as soon as possible. Indeed, the current situation is very shameful and it is most difficult to view the sequence of events unfolding before our eyes. Is this the price of progress and development that man has to pay?

Take care and have a good day. Do keep in touch.

    God bless!

    Nick Sis,

A very strong message from Arthur to the PR ADUNs and MPs. Move on! Yes,we know who are the biggest evil in the country.

It is a sad day for justice, democracy and freedom in Malaysia BUT what have we learnt from this? First, we've learnt that PR need to buck up in the next GE by selecting better and quality candidates.

Second, PR needs to rid themselves of all the trojan horses already placed in their machinery.

Third, PR needs to appraise their elected rep service track records, behavior and attitude. If any of them fall short of rakyat's expectation then it's the gutter for them. No more favoritism or leniency or mercy cos the rakyat had no mercy shown to them for decades so don't expect us to show mercy to unsavory and treacherous characters.

Fourthly, all of Malaysia must remember 9 of Feb. The guilty will be punished by law.

WE THE RAKYAT MUST PLEDGE OURSELVES THAT IN THE NEXT GE WE WILL VOTE CORRECTLY! GE13 IS RECLAIMING OUR FREEDOM! GE13 IS FOR EXACTING JUSTICE TO THE WRONGDOER (NO MATTER HOW HIGH OR RICH OR POWERFUL THEY MAYBE). GE13 IS FOR RAKYAT TO EXERCISE THEIR RIGHTS. GE13 IS FOR ALL ADUN AND MPS TO REALIZE THAT THEY ARE SERVANT AND WE ARE THE BOSSES. GE13 IS WHEN THE RAKYAT WILL SACK WHOMEVER IS CORRUPT, RACIST, CRIMINAL, COMMITTED BREACH OF TRUST AND TREACHERY. WE MUST REMEMBER THAT GE13 IS PAYBACK TIME!

    Hamba.
I have a vengeance against wrongdoers and it's called justice! I pledge that all of my family members and friends will vote correctly. No mercy for them and no leniency! EVER!

You have spoken with much feeling and sincerity. Thank you so much for highlighting the areas of concern and I hope that indeed, the much needed revamp will bring about an improvement in the caliber of leaders.

I have long advocated that citizens and even the party themselves must do an appraisal of elected reps. Failure to do so means we have given them the license to do whatever they wish with little accountability to the rakyat who elected them!

Every single person must exercise his/her right to vote lest we continue to suffer.

Take care and thanks again for sharing your views.

    Have a blessed day.

Unknown Dear Anon @ 10.18 am

You know, I have reached the stage where I actually go into news portals with much fear and trepidation.

I cringe in horror and shame when I read the certain types of news and wonder about the magnitude of damage to our national repute.

Sighs. I don't think any other Asean nation has had such a heavy spate of incidents like we have.

May there be divine intervention to right what went wrong.

Take care and thanks for sharing! I appreciate the effort that you made to air those quotations. God bless you.

    Shalom

Unknown Hong Kong-based Political and Economic Risk Consultancy (PERC) publishes reports on the risk ratings of other Asian countries, said it is “probable” that no other Asian country is suffering from as much bad press as Malaysia.

Among the developments that caught its attention were:-
    1)Theft of military jet engines
2)Detention of terror suspects from a number of African and Middle East countries following warnings that Islamic militants were planning attacks on foreigners at resorts in Sabah
    3) Renewed ethnic and religious “violence” that included arson at some churches and desecration of mosques
4)Controversy over the integrity of key institutions like the judicial system in the sodomy trial of opposition leader

From the 4 points from PERC, 3 of them are caused by BN government, not because of opposition party or rakyat. It's shows that Najis government not even can't bring Malaysia out of the dark, but bring us further down to the deep of dark area.

My friends, if you still think BN is capable to run the government, then why the world comments on BN government are so negative?

    Unknown Dear Chong

I saw very ashamed when I read that report. Let's see how the leaders will respond to that article.

Now we have heard from one reputable international organization. I wonder how many more will speak out in the international circuit.

Will some continue to masquerade as the saviors of this country when they are doing nothing but casting the seeds of imminent destruction?

The layman must stand up and do the right thing as you have very well expressed, Chong.

Thank you for sharing your finely tuned comment. I appreciate your contribution and support for the cause.

Take care and have a blessed life!

Village Boy Zambry Abdul Kadir said he accepted the Federal Court's decision declaring him as the rightful Perak menteri besar with gratitude and humility.

Well, what else could he say?

  1. says:

    Unknown Dear Village Boy

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I am still 1/2 way through my next post and have not read the news yet!

I am sure that is a prime example of bootlicking!!

We really have to pray for divine intervention.

Take care. Good to have you back in cyberspace again!
