The Political Compass

It is common knowledge that we all have different political inclinations. Some of us may be right-winged, left-winged or centrist in our approach or same may not know where they stand. Recently, I came across this website called The Political Compass.

That site says:

There's abundant evidence for the need of it. The old one-dimensional categories of 'right' and 'left', established for the seating arrangement of the French National Assembly of 1789, are overly simplistic for today's complex political landscape. For example, who are the 'conservatives' in today's Russia? Are they the unreconstructed Stalinists, or the reformers who have adopted the right-wing views of conservatives like Margaret Thatcher ?

On the standard left-right scale, how do you distinguish leftists like Stalin and Gandhi? It's not sufficient to say that Stalin was simply more left than Gandhi. There are fundamental political differences between them that the old categories on their own can't explain. Similarly, we generally describe social reactionaries as 'right-wingers', yet that leaves left-wing reactionaries like Robert Mugabe and Pol Pot off the hook.

The website has a test which can measure your political inclination in detail
After you've responded to the following propositions during the next 3-5 minutes, all will be explained. In each instance, you're asked to choose the response that best describes your feeling: Strongly Disagree, Disagree, Agree or Strongly Agree. At the end of the test, you'll be given the compass, with your own special position on it.

Please CLICK HERE to take THE POLITICAL COMPASS TEST. Do leave a comment to share your results/views. I would love to hear from you. Thanks. Have a great day!

The so called "political compass" is the traditional was of "boxing" such evolving forces!

What all of us need to understand that for sometime now, peoples consciousness have been evolving , not changing!

With the advent of www, many of us are able to see differing aspects of our lives.

Here in Malaysia, what happened to you , for instance , was the traditional was of authoritarian reaction/s.

But the whiplash, said persons did not expect - for no rhyme or reason, drag a very normal other & put her in the slammer - and that to a penangite!!!!!.

All over this land & across the nations, thanks to blogs etc , we are "talking", we are "feeling", we are "communicating"

This phenomenon now taking place, is rapidly blurring the "political compass"

    My very firm believe, MWS!

    Chiao & Godspeed.

Anonymous This compass is not applicable to many Malaysian politicians. They have lost their moral compass long ago with their arrogance and absolute power abuse. Even laws are bent for them to have their ways and close one eye became an infamous mantra.

There are even cases of missing files or even non entry of Hansard in the Sarawak legislative assembly. Where else can we have such abuse of power where even the August house is not respected by them except, their ways or no way.

People we must choose the lesser evil between the two paries system and find solace that we still have that vote to cast. Cast it well for the sake of our future generations.

    Anonymous The political compass?

Well, pointing to the past is BN and pointing to the future is Pakatan. Standing in the middle is the people.

Which direction we take is all up to us.
