TRUE LOVE AND THE POWER OF SILENCE

Have you ever been out to dinner and noticed a couple having their meal and not talking to each other? If you have you may have thought that the couple had been arguing. But this is not necessarily true.

When we are first trying to get to know someone, it is not unusual to feel compelled to keep talking. Periods of silence are uncomfortable because we are not use to the other person's company.

When the relationship deepens we gain comfort in these periods of silence. We know enough about one another to enjoy being together without constantly having to rely on words to convey how we feel. Have you ever seen something that amused you, only to look at your partner and know instinctively that they have seen and felt the same thing?

The longer a couple has been together the more likely it is that they will experience periods of silence together. Not because they have run out of things to say to each other, but because they understand one another and they enjoy simply being in each other's company. Love deepens over time and true soul mates communicate in many ways - not just with words.

I can spend several hours working opposite my partner (we have our own business) and we might never say a word to each other. But we share a closeness that I can actually feel - even when we don't utter a word, or share even the briefest of touches.

The most powerful feelings and emotions don't always need words to express themselves. Silence can be the loudest and most obvious communication of all.

Walt I of all people, can see not talking. It is rare, but when two minds are synchronized on track, a kind of spiritual harmony can take place. One that goes deep beyond words. The eyes alone can transmit reams of emotion and knowledge, yet it is much more than that. I've never known anyone like Paula, who shares with me so many common thoughts, that I know what she has written before I finish reading her first paragraph. At first I had difficulty believing she was living on the other side of the world. It is so cool to sit back and secretly glorify yourself in the words of another. That is how close she is to writing my deepest thoughts, and feelings.

Oh Hi Paula, I was just talking about you.

    Unknown Dear Walt,

Truly, it has been very inspiring to have you as a blog reader and friend.

Throughout the greater part of my life, few have really understood me. Some say I am emotional but that is because of the artistic side in me that feels sometimes far too much. Others do not believe I am who I am because they doubt my sincerity especially when I make positive comments or compliments. *sigh* The list is endless.

Yet, I am thankful for my blog readers/visitors who take the trouble to read my musings and even though many do not leave comments, the very fact they return tells me I am on the right track.

I have reached a point in my life when I cherish and value genuine friendship and real people for these are rare while hypocrites and those with negative intentions are abundant.

True. Sometimes, it is difficult to relate to people at the same level. But I am thankful for you, Walt, and also my regular readers...because somehow, somewhere in this planet...although we may not have met, yet, we can communicate on common ground without prejudgements, bias or prejudices, without the need to please or to confirm and as always, I tell it like it is.

I also feel the same way when I read your writings and it is cool that sometimes our posts are on the same topic on the same day even though we never knew what the other is doing!!!

Ah - like I said - I believe we are spiritual siblings!!!!

Thanks Walt for being a real person and blogger buddy! May God bless you and yours always.
