In ancient Israel , it came to pass that a trader by the name of Abraham Com did take unto himself a healthy young wife by the name of Dorothy(Dot for short). Dot Com was a comely woman, large of breast, broad of shoulder and long of leg. Indeed, she was often called Amazon Dot Com.
And she said unto Abraham, her husband, "Why dost thou travel so far from town to town with thy goods when thou canst trade without ever leaving thy tent?"
And Abraham did look at her as though she were several saddle bags short of a camel load, but simply said, "How, dear?"
And Dot replied, "I will place drums in all the towns and drums in between to send messages saying what you have for sale, and they will reply telling you who hath the best price. The sale can be made on the drums and delivery made by Uriah's Pony Stable (UPS)."
Abraham thought long and decided he would let Dot have her way with the drums. And the drums rang out and were an immediate success. Abraham sold all the goods he had at the top price, without ever having to move from his tent.
To prevent neighboring countries from overhearing what the drums were saying, Dot devised a system that only she and the drummers knew. It was known as Must Send Drum Over Sound (MSDOS), and she also developed a language to transmit ideas and pictures - Hebrew to The People (HTTP).
And the young men did take to Dot Com's trading as doth the greedy horsefly take to camel dung. They were called Nomadic Ecclesiastical Rich Dominican Sybarites, or NERDS.
And lo, the land was so feverish with joy at the new riches and the deafening sound of drums that no one noticed that the real riches were going to that enterprising drum dealer, Brother William of Gates, who bought off every drum maker in the land. Indeed he did insist on drums to be made that would work only with Brother Gates' drumheads and drumsticks.
And Dot did say, "Oh, Abraham, what we have started is being taken over by others."
And Abraham looked out over the Bay of Ezekiel , or eBay as it came to be known. He said, "We need a name that reflects what we are."
And Dot replied, "Young Ambitious Hebrew Owner Operators."
"YAHOO," said Abraham. And because it was Dot's idea, they named it YAHOO Dot Com.
Abraham's cousin, Joshua, being the young Gregarious Energetic Educated Kid (GEEK) that he was, soon started using Dot's drums to locate things around the countryside.
It soon became known as God's Own Official Guide to Locating Everything (GOOGLE).
That is how it all began. And that's the truth. I would not make up this stuff !!!!!!!!!!

Many of us have grown up imagining what the future will be like. Will there be flying cars? Will there be robots? Will we be able to do amazing and extraordinary things?
Well, some of these things are yet to come, but some are already right here. The amazing things technology can do today never cease to amaze me. Here are 17 pieces of evidence that prove we are already, at least partly, living in a futuristic world.

Seeing places like these, so unusual and creative, I think no one can dispute that architects are just as often artists as they are engineers. These 29 imaginative creations come to life are a poignant reminder of human brilliance and their creators' sense of what is beautiful. I'd love to visit each and every one of these.

Isn't this a fantastic feat? Imagine, in just a short span of thirty over years or more that China opened
its economy to the world it has achieved so much in almost everything.
Here in Malaysia, sad to say after so many decades we are still struggling for reasons we all know...and yet, we get shoddy work too often.
Jiaozhou bay bridge, Shandong, China.-China's engineering prowess and capability now exceeds that of ANY nation in the world! And their cost control is incredibly efficient! Much can be achieved with little or no corruption!

While vaccine makers and drug companies are rushing to bring medical interventions to the market that might address the Ebola pandemic, there's already a technology available right now that can kill Ebola in just two minutes in hospitals, quarantine centers, commercial offices and even public schools.
It's called the Xenex Germ-Zapping Robot, and it was invented by a team of Texas doctors whose company is based on San Antonio. (And no, I didn't get paid to write this. I'm covering this because this technology appears to be a viable lifesaving invention.)
The Xenex Germ-Zapping Robot uses pulsed xenon-generated UV light to achieve what the company calls "the advanced environmental cleaning of healthcare facilities." Because ultraviolet light destroys the integrity of the RNA that viruses are made of, it renders viruses "dead." (Viruses aren't really alive in the first place, technically speaking, so the correct term is "nonviable.")

Today’s Opium ...............
People are addicted these days ! One Café shop sign says : We do not have WIFI. Converse with your loved ones.
The major cause of divorce in 2018 will be the smartphone. Your friends and family members are so close and yet so far.
The smartphone today is not dissimilar to opium in the last century. It kills off our communication skills, and poisons our hearts and souls.
You don’t have to wonder any more why so many young people don’t read, can’t spell or write decently and are often inarticulate.

Researchers in China are reporting that they’ve taken a big step towards creating a truly revolutionary submarine. For years, the nation has been dedicated to the expansion of the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) Submarine Force.
Aside from wanting a fleet that could rival those of other superpowers, the growing fleet is seen as a means of further pressing Chinese territorial and strategic interests in the Pacific. However, this latest development is quite novel, since it involves the development of supersonic submarines.
The technology behind this, which could just as easily be applied to weaponised torpedoes as military or civilian submarines, could theoretically allow a sub to travel from Shanghai to San Francisco - a distance of about 9650 km (6,000 miles) – in just 100 minutes. This new advance, developed by a team of scientists at theHarbin Institute of Technology‘s Complex Flow and Heat Transfer Lab, is known as supercavitation – a concept originally developed by the Soviets in the ’60s, during the Cold War.

A month ago, a Nicaraguan committee approved Chinese billionaire Wang Jing's project to create The Nicaraguan Canal. With a planned capacity to accommodate ships with loaded displacement of 400,000 tons (notably bigger than The Panama Canal), the proposed 278-kilometer-long canal that will run across the Nicaragua isthmus would probably change the landscape of the world's maritime trade.
"The project is the largest infrastructure project ever in the history of man in terms of engineering difficulty, investment scale, workload and its global impact," Wang told reporters, adding that with regard the project's financing, which is around $50 billion, Wang seems quite confident, "If you can deliver, you will find all the world's money at your disposal."
Worried about conservation? Don't be: "We have 100-year concession rights, we will be responsible to ourselves, and we are there to build, not to destroy," explained Wang.

- Are smartphones making young people emotionally stunted? Communicating through emoticons is causing them to become socially awkward, experts warn
- Young kids are glued to electronic devices for nearly 5 hours each day
- In a study, 11 to 12-year-olds who went 5 days without looking at an electronic screen were better at reading human emotions than their friends
- Scientists claim emoticons are a poor substitute for human communication: 'We are social creatures,' they said. 'We need device-free time'
It's the generation that can understand exactly how you're feeling through a few simple emoticons.
But now researchers claim that children are now so engrossed in their phones, they are unable to accurately read how people are feeling in real-life.
This is the result of less face-to-face time interaction, according to the study, which found young kids are glued to electronic devices for nearly five hours each day.

Amazon has unveiled its first handset, offering 3D visuals - thanks to four face-tracking cameras on its front - and gesture controls.
The Fire Phone allows its user to change an image's perspective by moving their head, rather than creating "pop-out" effects.
The owner can also scroll through a webpage or bring up menus by tilting the smartphone in their hand.
Chief executive Jeff Bezos announced the phone at a press event in Seattle.
One industry watcher had doubts about what was on show.
"We've seen similar gesture controls on Samsung's Galaxy range, and not many people use them," said Francisco Jeronimo, a mobile devices analyst at market research firm IDC.
"Unless the experience is extraordinary it can come across as a gimmick. I'd be surprised if Amazon has succeeded when Samsung hasn't, but I'll need to try it.

Oracle won a big legal victory over Google on Friday, when a federal appeals overturned a ruling in their epic battle over the Java programming language. Larry Ellison and company are calling it a win for the entire software industry, but others see it differently. They believe it could harm the industry in enormous ways. Some even think it could come back to bite Oracle.
The dispute comes down to arcane code used in Google’s Android operating system, and if the courts ultimately find in favor of Oracle, the decision could reverberate across the tech industry. The situation is complicated, but it can be summed up pretty simply. Oracle owns Java. Google cloned Java in building Android. Oracle sued. And now the courts are trying to decide when it’s OK to clone someone else’s software.
Oracle owns Java. Google cloned Java in building Android. Oracle sued. And now the courts are trying to decide when it’s OK to clone someone else’s software.
If you asked a software developer about this, he will probably tell you the cloning is fine as long as you don’t just cut and paste the source code. But in suing Google, Oracle argues differently. They claim copyright not just over the source code itself, but over the standard names and structures used to organize Java. In other words, Oracle says it owns the designs of Java’s application programming interfaces, or APIs.

This film humorously highlights the fact that no digital tablet will ever replace the comfort of the paper.
Technology as handy as it is - I still prefer the touch and feel of a new book way more than reading on a tablet even though I have tons of ebooks.

Is your mobile ruining your sex life? Men who carry phones for 4 hours a day are more likely to be IMPOTENT, study claims
- Researchers found a link between mobile usage and erectile dysfunction
- They studied 20 men who had issues with impotence, plus 10 healthy men
- There was no significant difference between age, weight and testosterone
- Men with erectile problems did carry their mobiles for a 'significantly longer time' than healthy men
They said that more research needs to be done to establish what causes the problem and the extent of damage mobiles can cause. For the study, researchers recruited 20 men who had experienced problems with erectile function in the six months prior to the study, known as Group A. They also studied 10 healthy men with no history of dysfunction, known as Group B.
