Eid al-Adha "Festival of Sacrifice" or "Greater Eid" is a holiday celebrated by Muslims (including the Druze) worldwide to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. Eid al-Adha is the latter of two Eid festivals celebrated by Muslims, whose basis comes from the Quran. Like Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha begins with a short prayer followed by a sermon (khuṭba).

Eid al-Adha annually falls on the 10th day of the month of Dhul Hijja of the lunar Islamic calendar. The festivities last for three days or more depending on the country. Eid al-Adha occurs the day after the pilgrims conducting Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia by Muslims worldwide, descend from Mount Arafat. It happens to be approximately 70 days after the end of the month of Ramadan.

I would like to wish all Muslim friends and readers, Selamat Hari Raya Eid al-Adha. May the Almighty accept all the sacrifices and good deeds you have made in the past year.

    Alamak - I asked you many times if you are Malay or Chinese or Indian or mixed ethnic origin...you did not answer lah so i thought you are Chinese because your Mandarin is so powerful!!! I also did wonder because your BM is so good as evidenced by your latest post in Margeemar's blog.

    A Arthur Hello MWS,

    I see that you know something about Islamic holidays. Have you read the Quran (I mean the translation, a good source is by Abdullah Ali Yusof)

    It is a beautiful holy book with non of the violence as perpetuated by some fundamentalist.

    No, I have not read the whole Quran but I have read various portions as highlighted by my other Muslim blogger friends such as Chahya and others.
