Thanks also to my blog readers, followers, friends and relatives who have been visiting my blog, sharing their thoughts and comments that have inspired me to carry on. It is not easy to be a blog addict like me and I have made many sacrifices of time and money (no adverts here due to aesthetical reasons haha) but it has been well worth it because the satisfaction of blogging, making friends, discovering myself and the world out there via reading and writing is truly a life-enriching experience. Take care and have a good day!
Do swing by again at 1 pm for New Year Resolutions for Pets, Nerds and everyone!!!

Auld Lang Syne was partially written by Robert Burns in the 1700's, it was first published in 1796 after Burns' death. Early variations of the song were sung prior to 1700 and inspired Burns to produce the modern rendition. An old Scotch tune, 'Auld Lang Syne' literally means 'old long ago,' or simply, 'the good old days.'
Here are the lyrics: so many people seem to remember only the first verse.
Auld Lang Syne
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and days of auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and days of auld lang syne?
And here's a hand, my trusty friend
And gie's a hand o' thine
We'll tak'A cup o' kindness yet
For auld lang syne.

Unknown Dear Stephen
That is great news! There is no better way to spend the last few moments of 2009 and the first few moments of 2010 with our loved ones and with the Almighty!
Ah - The best place to be is at home :-). Like you, in my younger days, I would also be at either Gurney Drive or Esplanade but it is a different society that we have today and the crowd is rowdier and the atmosphere is nothing like that in the past.
Most definitely, the world has not progressed but has moved in the opposite direction in many ways, because somehow, many have lost the 'human' element in their soul but there are still many others who are terrific people, including you and your family.
My deepest appreciat6ion to you and yours for being very supportive friends/readers. The fact that you all take the trouble to visit my blog, read and then to share your thoughts - truly enriches my life and gives me the impetus to carry on.
Take care and here's wishing you nothing but the best for 2010!
Warmest wishes

Anonymous New year resolutions for the last 40 years:
1. Try to learn something new every day. Some progress here.
2. Be mindful of the animal spirits in the unruly mind. Easier said than done.
3. Become debt free....failed miserably.

Three cheers for that. I can appreciate the time, effort and resources that you have devoted to keep your blog ad free, interesting and stimulate other bloggers to response.

Unknown Dear Anonymous @ 11.41 a.m.
Thanks for your very encouraging response and festive greetings. I just got back from my vacation and believe me, I suffered from severe blog withdrawal symptoms that marred my holiday :-(.
Certainly, I will be blogging again to a frenzy hehehe to payback for time lost.
Take care and have a blessed new year!
Best wishes

stephen Well its new year's eve and I'm still on leave!! Yippee!
MWS,what are your plans today? I remember during my younger days, our family used to go to the esplanade and wait for the midnight hour. The ships will then blow their horns to usher in the new year. Then its off to supper!
Nowadays, kids are so much more boisterous in welcoming christmas and the new year, making a nuisance of themselves, damaging property and fighting!
I wonder if all this western mumbo jumbo of how to bring up children and how to teach them in school i.e counselling and spare the rod sort of stuff has resulted in our kids behaving like louts.
Even parents nowadays would admonish the school if their child was punished for misbehaving!!I remember parents in the old days would whack the child even before the school has a chance to explain why they called them in!! How the world has changed.
