INSPIRATIONAL QUOTATIONS FOR A BRAND NEW DAY

Posted by Unknown On Saturday, January 9, 2010 19 comments
I never thought that the second Friday of 2010 would be such an unnerving one. I am still so troubled and upset that I cannot sleep at all even though it is three o'clock in the morning. I just discovered that one of my varsity mates belongs to Metro Tabernacle Church when she sent me a youtube video of her church after it was fire-bombed and you can see it at THIS LINK.

It is difficult enough for me to forget the events I witnessed almost 40 years ago when I was just a little girl and that is why I react more emotionally to recent developments. For a change, I thought I'd focus on inspirational quotations instead of jokes to infuse wisdom, hope and kindness into our spirits as we begin a brand new day. May God bless our nation with peace, harmony and unity and may the Almighty restrain those who want to do evil deeds in our land. I hope you will be inspired by the youtube video clip and this set of quotations. Have a nice day and a great weekend!

The following video is specially dedicated to all my blog readers and friends, especially Antares, Tony, Angela, Edward, Nick, Arthur, Stephen,Romerz, Village Boy, Saudara Hafiz, Huilu, Semuanya Kot ok, antimamak, Cat-in-Sydney, DPP, Ching, Catherine, Pug, Uncle James, Datin Mamasita, Kak Ezza, Kak Teh, Kak Zendra, Andrea, Crankshaft, Chong, Fishfoot,Linda, JournoDOwnUnder, QQ, Kenneth, Ken, Margeemar, Walski, IWC, copycat, and many others including anonymous readers...

BEAUTIFUL QUOTATIONS OF MOTHER THERESA

Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.

We, the unwilling, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much, for so long, with so little, we are now qualified to do anything with nothing.

Do not think that love, in order to be genuine, has to be extraordinary. What we need is to love without getting tired.

Do not wait for leaders; do it alone, person to person.

Even the rich are hungry for love, for being cared for, for being wanted, for having someone to call their own.

Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing.

God doesn't require us to succeed; he only requires that you try.

Good works are links that form a chain of love.

I am a little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world.

I do not pray for success, I ask for faithfulness.

I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.

I want you to be concerned about your next door neighbor. Do you know your next door neighbor?

If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.

If we want a love message to be heard, it has got to be sent out. To keep a lamp burning, we have to keep putting oil in it.

In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love.

Intense love does not measure, it just gives.

It is a kingly act to assist the fallen.

It is impossible to walk rapidly and be unhappy.

It is not the magnitude of our actions but the amount of love that is put into them that matters.

Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls.

Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.

Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love.

Let us touch the dying, the poor, the lonely and the unwanted according to the graces we have received and let us not be ashamed or slow to do the humble work.

Love begins at home, and it is not how much we do... but how much love we put in that action.

Love begins by taking care of the closest ones - the ones at home.

Love is a fruit in season at all times, and within reach of every hand.

If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one.

If you judge people, you have no time to love them.

Peace begins with a smile.

Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.

The success of love is in the loving - it is not in the result of loving. Of course it is natural in love to want the best for the other person, but whether it turns out that way or not does not determine the value of what we have done.

There are no great things, only small things with great love. Happy are those.

There is more hunger in the world for love and appreciation in this world than for bread.

We can do no great things, only small things with great love.

We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature - trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence... We need silence to be able to touch souls.

If you want a love message to be heard, it has got to be sent out. To keep a lamp burning, we have to keep putting oil in it.

QUOTES BY MARGARET MEAD

Margaret Mead was an American cultural anthropologist. Born in 1901, she died in NYC in 1978. She was both respected and controversial. An adademic, a writer. Here are some of her most popular quotes

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

Children must be taught how to think, not what to think.

There is no greater insight into the future than recognizing...when we save our children, we save ourselves.

Instead of being presented with stereotypes by age, sex, color, class, or religion, children must have the opportunity to learn that within each range, some people are loathsome and some are delightful.

We are continually faced with great opportunities which are brilliantly disguised as unsolvable problems.

Young people are moving away from feeling guilty about sleeping with somebody to feeling guilty if they are *not* sleeping with someone.

Never depend upon institutions or government to solve any problem. All social movements are founded by, guided by, motivated and seen through by the passion of individuals.

You know you love someone when you cannot put into words how they make you feel.

We won't have a society if we destroy the environment.

If the future is to remain open and free, we need people who can tolerate the unknown, who will not need the support of completely worked out systems or traditional blueprints from the past.

Never doubt that a small group of committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

I learned to observe the world around me, and to note what I saw.

I was brought up to believe that the only thing worth doing was to add to the sum of accurate information in the world.

A Arthur Hello MWS, thank you for the video. Imagine a little girl singing I believe. Beautiful quotes to live by too. Mother Teresa was one who lived a selfless live in serving God, helping the poor and the destitute and guiding a small group of her sisters of the Missionaries of Charity.

As events for the present day unfolded we have to accept that things are not about to change overnight. It has to get worse before it gets better, what with the present crop of law-makers who fumble, stumble and make all the stupid and wrong decisions, or refuse to acknowledge the dilemma Malaysia is facing. So we just have to brace ourselves for the worse especially when you are in business and the economy and business environment are in tatters.

Anyway your beautiful quotes come in timely, thank you

Anonymous A brand new day, you say.

    Well ...

If you can read Mandarin, read this ---

    http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/121532

It's about 4 guys storming into a church vandalizing things and when the pastor tried to stop them they beat up that pastor.

Brand new day in this place still stink, as always.

nick Great quotation Sis. Now, if we just have a brand new government instead of a brand new day, that'll be the best thing to happen to this country next to independence.

    Hamba.
GOD bless, Sis. Stay healthy, be safe and keep on blogging. Bigger challenges are on the horizon and so are the rewards.

You are welcome re the quotations and the video. Thanks for your comments re Mother Theresa - she is one leader whom I admire greatly and I have actually put up a set of slides on her words of wisdom.

Your word of caution is much needed in such trying times.

We have to be strong in the face of challenges...Take care and have a nice day.

    Warmest regards

Sighs. Of course I read about the news last night but not in that article as my Mandarin literacy is very limited.

Each new day brings hope. Even in the midst of difficulties, we have to keep strong and not allow external circumstances to rob us of our joy and hopes in life.

Even if the place stinks, it is up to us to do our part, regardless of our small, to make the world a better place.

If we choose to allow ourselves to be overcome by negativism, it is our loss and a real tragedy.

A very good example is Thomas Edison - he tried over 1000 times before he invented his light bulb...Even when his laboratory blew up, he persevered.

And we MUST persevere and not lose hope.

Take care and have a good day.

    Best wishes

Definitely! We must continue to do our part to ensure that new day, new government, new dawn comes soon...

Thanks for your call to keep safe, stay healthy and I will continue to blog :-) to enjoy its therapeutic benefits. ;-)

Take care and thanks for being so positive and supportive. May the Almighty bless and keep you and yours always.

    Warmest wishes

stephen Hi MWS, I think its about time the church should rethink its stand and give in to the muslims.

I say this because after what has happened, I strongly believe they pray to different Gods.

It is up to non believers to choose who is the God of compassion and peace.

  1. says:

    Unknown Dear Stephen

Sighs. Personally, I believe that being hard headed about any issue is detrimental to inter-personal relations. I find it tragic that all this occurred as a result of a dispute over one word.

Although I have my faith, I am not the fanatical type to play hard ball over semantics. I believe that an amicable solution is within reach if both parties have a give and take approach.

Sighs - in reality, I am not sure if that is possible...

But then again, both sides have to try...

Take care and have a good day.

    Warmest regards

    Unknown Dear Anonymous @ 10.07 a.m.

    :-) I don't get your point hehe..

My son does not call me mummy as he has always called me mama :-)....

Tradition - I did the same for my mother...

Take care and here's a big hug for your kid!

    Have a nice day...

This is the reality that Malaysia faces, in the coming year of the tiger. The BN government has lost its sense of direction. Now is the time of great opportunities. Malaysia is at the crossroad. One path leads to self-destruction, another leads to evolution and survival. Malaysians can choose and make a difference.

  1. says:

    Unknown Dear Anonymous @ 10.31 a.m.

Thank you for picking up the gems of wisdom and inspiration that I deliberately highlighted in my post.

The other very relevant one is:

If the future is to remain open and free, we need people who can tolerate the unknown, who will not need the support of completely worked out systems or traditional blueprints from the past.

Right now, that is where we are....as you have wisely pointed out - the crossroad of our nation and it is really up to Malaysians to make a decision based on their conscience and the collective good of the nation.

Do take care and thanks for sharing your thoughts. God bless you.

    Best wishes

  1. says:

Unknown Dear Anonymous @ 10.59 am aka IWC

LOL I suspected it was you lah...

Ya..we have to pray for the best. Some people are slapping their own faces so let them do it for their own pleasure and to their own detriment....the rest of us can watch tv, listen to music or read :-).

Take care and have a good weekend.

    Cheers

Catherine Whether someone is a sage cannot be judged by outward appearances or social standing.
Actually, a person's conduct and actions are the key standard.

Catherine Will a brand new day be yet another sad day?

  1. says:

Kenneth Let's not retaliate and dance to the tune of those who enjoy 'syiok sendiri'.

  1. says:

    Unknown Dear Catherine

Sighs...I also wonder along the same lines as you do...but I believe that one day, some day, when the time is right...a brand new day will begin for a brand new govt...

That much I believe and hope...

Take care and God bless you!

    Shalom

  1. says:

    Unknown Dear Kenneth

Definitely there has to be no retaliation...To do so would mean falling into their trap so we have to wipe away our tears, hold our heads high and be brave...

    Take care and keep safe.

    Blessings to you and yours
