ANOTHER CHANCE?

During my secondary school years, I collected the poetry of Helen Steiner Rice. Then, I still remember that Hallmark cards featured many of her inspirational poems.Helen Steiner Rice (1900-1981)was born in Ohio into a family of immigrants. Often referred to as “poet laureate of inspirational verses” Rice dreamed of attending college and one day became a congresswoman.

Her ambition was shattered when her German father died during the Spanish Flu epidemic in 1918, making her the sole breadwinner of the family. To make ends meet she worked at a lighting company, helping other women to decorate lampshades.

She climbed up the corporate ladder until she managed to get to the position of advertising manager.

Due to the nature of the business, this petite lady (she's less than 5 feet tall) went criss-crossing the nation for lectures in her industry. During this time she met a young and rich banker and married him. After their honeymoon, Rice lived in a 14 rooms house, complete with 3 expensive cars at her disposal.

On the same year, the stock market crashed and her husband lost his job, went broke and both were in enormous debt. Rice went back to work for a greeting card company to make ends meet. One day while at work, her husband committed suicide. She was a young widow at 32.

Her work writing verses at the greeting card company was where she made her mark in the literary circle with her inspirational poetry. During her lifetime she published around 10 books of poetry but after her death, her foundation published 65 more.

She suffered from arthritis during her old age. At 79, she fell, broke her hips and two years later Helen died – leaving behind a Helen Steiner Foundation to help the poor and needy; and a collection of beautiful inspirational poetry to the rest of the world.

Here's one of her poems which is most appropriate for all of us in the light of what has been happening in our country. Be inspired! Have a nice day!

ANOTHER CHANCE

How often we wish for another chance
to make a fresh beginning.
A chance to blot out our mistakes
And change failure into winning.
It does not take a new day
To make a brand new start,
It only takes a deep desire
To try with all our heart.
To live a little better
And to always be forgiving
And to add a little sunshine
To the world in which we're living.
So never give up in despair
And think that you are through,
For there's always a tomorrow
And the hope of starting new.

    nick Sis,

Give AMMo and BN another chance of raping, robbing, plundering and ultimately destroying this country??? Not in a million years. Although I should think we the rakyat had so many chances of making the right decision BUT let those chances slip away because of our indifference, greed and sheer ignorance.

We had the chance in the mid 90's to change our government. We had the chance during the financial crises to see the real faceS of our leaders and government (specifically the face of TDM and AMMO) and we look the other way. We squandered so many chances for a brighter and prosperous future for the sake of stability and status quo (fear of the unknown, fear of change). GOD gives us so many chances but we wouldn't take it! GOD will change the fate of a society ONLY IF the said society is brave and willing enough to change it themselves.

It's not about chances! It's about us willing and braving for change!WE make our own chances BUT ARE WE WILLING AND BRAVE ENOUGH TO DO IT WHEN ANOTHER CHANCE PRESENT ITSELF? I SAY "JUST DO IT!" (and hope that NIKE co. won't sue me for copyright infringement).

LET'S THROW OUT THE MALAYSIA BOLEH AND someONE's IDIOT MALAYSIA SLOGAN AND CHANGE IT TO "LET'S JUST DO IT"! JUST TAKE THE CHANCE AND GOD WILLING WE WON'T LIVE TO REGRET IT. (AREN'T WE ALREADY REGRETTING THE BIRTH OF CERTAIN LEADERS AND PARTIES?) SO, WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR?

God bless us all, Sis and hopefully Malaysian are wide awake now (after seeing Pekerbaus antic and the hypocrisy of those AMMo leaders). God willing, we have learnt our lesson finally. Have a nice weekend Sis.

Ipoh Girls We travelled all the way from Ipoh to Wangsa Maju to cast our votes for PKR on March 8, 2008. Wee Choo Keong's action is a sheer betrayal of our votes.

We wish to remind Yang Berkhianat Wee Choo Keong that we voted for PKR, not WCK!

Froggie Wee, you are such a shame, especially to the Chinese! Please search through your soul and see if there is any conscience left!

    Piut, piut, piut!

Enough is enough, Yellow Pig Strong (Wee Choo Keong)!

Anonymous Idiot Wee who declared himself independent should have the dignity to resign totally from his seat first and seek re-election under a new party or as an independent. He was elected because of the party he stood on, not because of his personalities or character.

Bloody no shame, greedy frog with no balls!

Oh no!! You are right-not in a million years!! We had many opportunities to wipe them out but allowed these to slip through the gaps till they gained confidence and momentum to attack.

Some may be hesitating because they think their vote or decision do not matter but every single rakyat, vote matters to give the impetus and force to dislodge them from power.

Many thanks for your very passionate and spirited exhortation for all to do what is clearly the right thing for this nation.

May the Sibu voters bring hope into our hearts by voting wisely.

Thanks for sharing from the bottom of your heart, Nick. Take care and may you and yours have a great weekend!

Your patriotism, perspective, stand for justice and response to the call of duty is exemplary!!!

Thank you very much for speaking up. May more Wangsa Maju constituents do like what Bayan Lepas constituents did after Zahrain defected.

Take care and thanks for sharing.

God bless you all. Please keep in touch!

You have raised very strong points but alas, this despicable frog would never have the moral courage to do that because he know the outcome. As such, he would rather cling on to what he should not possess!

Thanks for speaking up. Take care and do keep in touch.

    Cheers

Thanks for a very inspirational comment. Alas, the one who should hear this is busy making press statements justifying his defection.

    How tragic!

Take care and may you continue to infuse this blog with words of hope. God bless you always.

    Best wishes

“Wee Choo Keong’s problem is more complicating. It involves two mistresses and one who has just given birth and Umno has threatened to expose this scandal. He also has this RM35 million legal problem with Ambank and if this can be settled ‘out of court’ then Wee will certainly become another ‘independent’ Member of Parliament.”

Ppl, who were old enough, should have earlier taken notice of the raving mad manner he left the DAP in a huff to form his own mosquito MDP back more than a decade ago.
