EXPLOSIVE "MAVERICK" EXPLODING

Posted by Unknown On Thursday, May 6, 2010 28 comments
Now why was I not surprised at all when I read HERE that Palgrave Macmillan, the publisher of a controversial biopic on Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad called "MALAYSIAN MAVERICK - Mahathir Mohamad in Turbulent Times" by Barry Wain, is printing an extra 5,000 copies for Malaysia after all 500 initial copies were snapped up. I bought my own copy recently and have to say that although I am not a fan of that man, this is one book that every literate Malaysian who loves Malaysia HAS to read, understand and remember.

After 22 years at the helm, there are some who choose to believe in his glowing report card. A thorough study of this book and the many documented resources within will probably make such a person turn the lights low and erase whatever memories. We cannot deny that TDM was a kingmaker of a special sort. He still is, in his own colorful and vocal manner. TDM, being who he is with his typical self-serving and self-important nature, doesn't allow anyone to question his failures or any allegations that he might have enriched his own family in certain ways for 22 years. Far from reading TDM's denials to this book's claims that he had squandered RM100 billion worth of taxpayers' money during his reign, study this book thoroughly. Then make your own logical, rational and informed conclusion.

For one like me who loves to read well-documented claims, this book is a real treat. Yup - it is pricey but heck - this is a hard cover edition we are talking about. And this book is worth buying and keeping for your descendants that they may know reality as revealed in Wain's book.

Whatever your stand or belief whether TD was a failure or a successful leader, ask yourself one thing. Do his legacies today point to a lacklustre rather than a supposedly developed Malaysia?

Who is TDM? Master designer, the longest-reigning PM or was he really a maverick or one
obsessed about saving and functioning within UMNO despite whatever perspectives he had? Ask yourself what might have happened if DSAI had not gone to jail or if it had not been Badawi who succeeded him.

After reading this book, you might realize there are so many facets of this man that you never knew existed. I do not want to say too much lest it spoils your enjoyment of this book but believe me - this is an excellent read - disturbing, compelling, riveting, even very provoking to make you realize that we are living in VERY challenging times and we cannot afford NOT to effect change and vote in the government that we RIGHTLY deserve.

So, if you have not bought this book, please do as asap - call up and order your copy!!! Take care and do leave a comment to share your thoughts or views. Thanks! Have a great day!

*Maverick is a noun which has three meanings:
1. Southwestern U.S. an unbranded calf, cow, or steer, esp. an unbranded calf that is separated from its mother.
2. a lone dissenter, as an intellectual, an artist, or a politician, who takes an independent stand apart from his or her associates.
3.an electro-optically guided U.S. air-to-ground tactical missile for destroying tanks and other hardened targets at ranges up to 15 mi.

Anonymous If one ascribes an aptly long string of 'titles' for this one, "maverick", actually doesn't come close to being featured right in the forefront. I believe it's being used as an euphemism here.

Nouns like "demagogue, dictator, Machiavellian and sophist", are far more apt, upfront.

He wasn't brilliant : he merely had the big stick and used it.

Anonymous There are more words that I can write about the man than Barry Wain can, but I'm not going to waste my time doing that. Four sentences adequately decribe my inner feelings. And here they are...

Previously, I use to respect the man but not anymore.

Pubicly, he's still adored by many for reasons best known to themselves.

Personally, I've no interest or desire to read anything by him or about him except his impending obituary.

    Privately, I wish he's dead.

    nick Hi Sis,

You have just touched on a subject that I just had to comment and no surprises, it's TDM (and to me TDM doesn't mean Tun Dr M but something else).

Sis, you've given us 3 meaning of the word "maverick" and neither one can be applied to "TDM". No 1 came close but only if it is changed to a thick skinned buffalo which has been separated from it's mind and running wild on LSD.

Yep, to me TDM is a thick skinned 80 year old buffalo, senile and out of its mind, running around all covered in mud, causing fatal accident to road users by sleeping in the middle of the road at night with no regards for anyone or anything whatsoever.

He is a danger to all road users just by existing and by doing anything he pleases without any regards, shame or moral. That's what he is to Malaysian and that's what he'll remain until such time GOD pleases.

One lesson that we can learn from this buffalo as a human being who uses the road, is to drive carefully, be very vigilant, stay calm and wide awake while driving at night. Don't be rash and unnecessarily spooked by ghost stories especially those aired by TV3 and RTM to make us careless and speeding while driving. That is a recipe for disaster...

Speeding and being spooked by fictitious things will make us careless and unfocused on the important thing such as the road. If that's the case, we won't see the black, covered in mud buffalo sleeping on the middle of the road until it's too late. And that can be a fatal accident for us, Malaysian especially for the coming GE.

And that Sis, is a lesson to be learned from the buffalo. Maybe next time I tell you a story/lesson about the fraternity in which The buffalo is the defacto mascot. What fraternity you may ask (as if you don't know)??? None other than PERKASA (Perkumpulan Kerbau2 Sekubang).

Until next time Sis, May GOD bless us all and keep us wide awake while driving at night. And no, I didn't have an accident involving a buffalo. However, I do think that PR is behaving like a spooked and weary driver who might end up having that kind of accident.

GOD bless, Sis. Please stay safe and healthy.

    Nick.

Village Boy What might have happened if DSAI had not gone to jail?

The most possible possibility which I can think of is :

TDM would be in jail instead, haha!

Starmandala I'm halfway through Barry Wain's study of Mahathir. Daim has managed to keep a low profile all this while but he definitely deserves to be hanged together with his accomplice in crime.

P.S. "Scomi" popped up for word verification! isn't that interesting?

Anonymous I agree with wits0. The last adjective I'd use to describe him is brilliant. He did what he did because he was at the right place at the right time. Given the economic architecture during that period, a true nation builder would have done a much better job.

He fell off his high horse when the riding got rough. But he tells everyone that he dismounted on his own.

May he have the opportunity soon to fulfill his vow to his G_D. If Rasis doesn`t.....well that would be fun too as to whaty his G_D does to him.

Hafiz b Shukor Rais is the father of all hypocrites.

His well-known remark during his opposition days was "I had burned bridges with UMNO and would not rejoin the party."

In the end, he had to lick Mahathir's hand to get some posts.

And today, he is the most shameless idiot of all the idiots!

Excellent observation, dear Wits0. He certainly used the carrot and stick policy to his advantage, except the stick was used more often than offering the carrot! Perhaps he wanted all the carrots for himself!

    Unknown Hi Nick

How lovely to hear from you again after such a long lapse!!! Thanks for your wonderful comment!!!

Love the imagery of the drugged buffalo :-).

Someone must rein him in. I wonder why this book was released....

    Ada udang di sebalik batu

Your discourse on the buffalo buffoon is most timely!

The tragic thing is many still love this old buffalo and believe the spins he creates. Hopefully, they will be enlightened in time for the next GE.

There are so many forces at work that we all have to be on guard lest we knock into buffaloes in our way *winks*.

Take care and thanks so much for sharing your deep thoughts.

Please keep in touch and know that it is great to have you back in full swing!

ahoo The reason why he have so many fans out there including the youths out there is because THEY look to him as semi-god. None of them have ever come near to him thus far be in power, fame and shrewdness. They all want to emulate him without realising that time and tide waits for no men.

For all that he had have achieved, I can regard him as the father of modern Malaysia vis-a-vis modern day robin hood. Robin hood gave to the poor but he gave it to his "connected" poor. This legacy will be there in history for all Malaysians to read and to ponder.

  1. says:

Anonymous Dear Ah Hoo, it's true his 'hero' image was wrought by mind bending propaganda and faked attributes. The complicit MSM plated a big part in obfuscating his mean actions and deed. Always new shallow slogans to suit his grandiose purpose only.

The Mahal-Deal in all things begins with him and continues on.

Which of his decisions, if and when they ever succeeded, were made for the right reasons?

Worse is, some people still don't seem to have waken up to the fact that they have been worshiping Belial as God.

There is the real M and the make-believe M.

    Both stink!

Only the misguided and lost souls would look up to him.

The fact that many still do speaks volumes about the generation of lost souls in our midst, thanks to the failure of the education system to produce Malaysians who have thinking faculties.

    :-( Very saddening.

Take care and have a great day!

ahoo I think we should collect some fund in preparation for "special embalmment" for this demi-god, Malaysian as it will be priceless for the future generation. Maybe even build a national monument if the fund exceeded the earlier process. Like the late Mao of China where the local people are now worshipping him. I can start the ball rolling with a pledge of
    1K lah.

I have seen the rule of 6 PMs for Malaysia to date and none can outshine him as yet. Maybe we have to wait a litte longer to know the real truth of who is going to be "the best of the best" in the high office.

  1. says:

Take care and have a lovely weekend!
