My dear friend Angela sent me the following post. I don't think I've ever heard the concept explained any better than this and am posting it just for laughs so please don't take me seriously! Have a great day!



THE THEORY OF INTELLIGENCE

'Well you see, Norm, it's like this . . . A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.

In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first.

In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.'

*Please note that I am not encouraging drinking just so one can feel smarter :-) and am posting this for laughs. Have a nice day!

    nick Sis,

    The theory of intelligence with respect to the Malaysian PM and his cabinet (kitchen would be better) is nothing but a theory. And a far fetched theory at that!

    Who ever heard of a PM (of any nation) promoting a concept that he himself didn't understand and worse still, he confuses himself and the nation trying to explain it in simple terms and in his own mother tongue too (explaining in English would result in mass hysteria or mad cow disease I would suspect!)

    Until today, no one and I do mean "no one" (including the PM himself) are able to explain what 1Malaysia really mean, apart from the frequent clueless gesture of pointing the index finger upwards (I use the middle one with the back of my hand facing forward-that's how I feel about the stupid thing anyway).

    It would seem there's no intelligence life in Putrajaya or PWTC for that matter. It's like a bus with a comatose driver. Scary!!!

    May GOD bless Malaysia and it's people.

    Thank you for your spirited and passionate response! My apologies to all for this late response as my boy and I have been studying fishes, frogs, tadpoles and all kinds of marine life in ponds! What to do - school hols have begin and so far, yes- I am having a great time with him...er this is the first day and me thinks I will be tired out by Monday haha!

    Coming back to your comment, indeed we have comatose drivers steering us to zombieland and some still claim we are heading to fairyland while others proclaim we are on a highway to bankruptcy.

    The rakyat have to decide for themselves who to believe and what to do to avert any disaster.

    Most definitely, change is needed asap!

    Anonymous The buffaloes that got away are not necessarily the smartest. They are only the fastest. The poor fella that became dinner is not because it was stupid but it was too slow. So this is really about “the fittest survives”. For all you know the poor beast could have been the smartest; it knew where to get the most nutritious shoots; became too fat as a result of over-feeding and couldn’t run as fast even if his life depended on it.

    Alcohol is not necessarily bad for your brains. Past studies have shown that our body has Mr. Liver to deal with that toxin metabolically. And Mr. Liver manages that quite efficiently allowing only a very tiny portion of “treated” alcohol to circulate in our body; some of which does get to our brain (that’s why we have that tipsy feeling). But unlike other drugs (such as ecstasy pills) which makes our brain cells hyperactive and damages them, alcohol actually activates the brain’s inhibitory nerve transmitter chemicals and in fact makes our brain cells less vulnerable to damage.

    The verdict – there’s no evidence that small amounts of alcohol kills our brain cells unless Mr. Liver has gone on long leave. In fact, if you look at people who have spent their whole life drinking modest amounts of alcohol, such as beer or wine, there’s actually scientific evidence that their intellect may be preserved better than people who never drink all their lives.

    The moral of my story? Slow down buddy and have a drink!! Cheers!

    Wow! Brilliant comment and after I had a surfeit of Merlot LOL! Yes, I do agree with you that when taken in moderation, alcohol esp wine, does not really do that much harm.
