All About Alice

Before there was Lara Croft, I dreamt of being an archaeologist in my younger days. My interest began in the late 1960's when I learnt about ancient civilizations and the Paleolithic and Neolithic Age etc. Along the way, I gave up that dream when my late mom told me that I would have to contend with a diet of dinosuar-kut-teh (dinosaur herbal soup) i.e. be broke and miserable as there is very little room for development in archaeology where our country is concerned. Still, stories such as "King Solomon's Mines" and many other adventure tales including the Indiana Jones series allowed me to live out my dreams in my imagination.

This afternoon, a friend introduced me to Dr. Alice Roberts. It is my pleasure to introduce you to this marvellous woman who is an anatomist, author and broadcaster. Her website tells us that she is fascinated by biological anthropology: in what ancient skeletons can tell us about human evolution, the diversity of the human species, and about diseases that have affected us over time. Her research on old bones led to a PhD in palaeopathology (the study of disease in ancient human remains).

Her site says that in 2001, Alice joined Channel 4’s Time Team as a human bone specialist, and went on to become a science presenter for various projects on BBC2, focusing on her expertise and passion for science, medicine and anthropology. Read more HERE.

If you have the time, please watch the following video AT THIS LINK which documents Dr Alice Roberts' effort to discover the incredible story of how humans left Africa to colonize the world.

Believe me, it is a MUST WATCH for everyone!!!

Her other videos are available HERE.

Take care and have a great day! Next post will be up before dinner! Cheers!

Special thanks to my friend Dr.M, another social researcher, who told me about Dr. Alice Roberts and enlightened me in so many ways about life, archaeology and many fine details about anthropology and photography.

Anonymous Alice was from wonderland. With profession such as an Anatomist, Anthropologist and even Archaeologist all thrown into one, that itself is great achievement.

On religion, not too sure whether she is an Atheist, Adventist, Buddhist or even a Baptist. Surely, not a Capitalist nor a Communist but could be a Chauvinist with Evolutionist mindset.

Though she may have been a successful Scientist and a Specialist in her field, I as an Apologist, pray that she will meet up with an Evangelist one of this day.

No matter how great our achievements in life, we are mere mortal and know not the day nor hour of our last breathe. Can anyone boasts about the exact number of days they have on earth ? Nay, we may have super brains and are highly learned but we cannot change the Gist nor the amount of oxygen in the atmosphere. A bit more or less and we are all doomed. Let's just be humble human beings, ya. Cheers !

Thanks for your comment which shows your sharp thinking mind...I enjoyed the information and especially the way she filmed the shots. I minored in anthropology as an undergrad and this field has always been a fascinating one to me.

Take care and have a blessed evening. Thanks for reading!!
