Dear All, my Kind Hearted Friends,

Seeking your aid again in supporting us for our Eye Charity Drive for this quarter. A brief writeup of our Penang Eye Charity Clinic formed by Dr Lim Thung Kiat, co-hosted by Penang Chinese Town Hall.....

Our Penang Charity Eye Clinic has been providing financial aid to poor and blind elderly patients to have their eye cataract operations done by Dr Lim Thung Kiat, who holds FRCS A.M. at the Tanjung Medical Centre in Burmah Road, Penang, 604-2262 323.

Dr Lim, an Eye Specalist who has his own clinic, Lim Eye Specialist Clinic in Petaling Jaya has been actively drive the Penang Charity Eye Clinic since 2007. The Penang Charity Eye Clinic was launched in June 2007 with the cooperation of the Penang Chinese Town Hall, Dato’ Lam Wu Chong . So far, the clinic has conducted 36 monthly sessions and over 2000 patients were treated by Dr Lim Thung Kiat. The running of the charity eye clinic is dependent on public donation

Cataract and other eye operations will be provided free only to those who are poor financially, certified by the Penang Chinese Town Hall. Those who do not qualify for the free operation can seek partial assistance. A total of 124 operations had been performed over the period.

We are in the process of acquiring the Oertli Phaco Machine which is used to perform the cataract operations for the poor and blind elderly patients in Tanjung Medical Centre at Burmah Road. The cost of the machine is RM144,000.00 (Ringgit one hundred and forty-four thousand), payable in monthly installment of RM6,000.00 (Ringgit six thousand only) over a period of 24 (twenty-four) months. It has been very kind of Ning Kwong (M) Sdn Bhd to loan it to Penang Charity Eye Clinic for the time being. We would like to have a unit of our own and thus would like to take this opportunity to appeal to you, for your kind and generous contributions to make this happen. We have several schemes which you can opt for to assist us in our pledge for RM144, 000.00 (Ringgit one hundred and forty-four thousand):

Scheme 1:- by contributing RM200 per month for 24 months

Scheme 2:- by contributing RM100 per month for 24 months

Scheme 3:- in cases where there are financial constraints, one time contribution of any amount is also welcomed, any amount greater than RM500 or minimum RM50

Notes:
1) Please keep us (Jasmine, Christine and I as listed below) posted which scheme you are going to opt for. We need the information for recording purposes.

2) For those who wish to opt for scheme 1 or scheme 2, you are advised to issue postdated monthly cheques for six months at one time. A half yearly receipt will be issued in due course. Please issue cheques payable to Penang Chinese Town Hall and do take note that at the back of the cheque please write “Penang Charity Eye Clinic”, which is very important as we utilise the fund to run the charity clinic and for the purchase of eye equipment only.

3) For those who opt for scheme 3, please bank into Public Bank Account Number 4878325210 under the name of Chee Oy Chan and do drop us an email once it is done. A receipt will be issued in due course.

4) The above contributions are tax exempt.

I would like to share with you some photos taken by Penang Charity Eye Clinic during the eye operation at Tanjung Medical Centre (first Saturday of the month), the eye examination activities at Penang Chinese Town Hall (first Sunday of the month) and some of the patients who benefited from the program. I also hereby attached the quotation and purchase document for the Phaco Machine for your viewing.
