Alas, such dreams are only just dreams. The past three days have been very hectic as my younger boy has extra music lessons and rehearsals with his accompanist. His Grade 8 piano exam is in less than two weeks and his violin exam is in August.
Apart from all that, I lost my part-time cleaner a few weeks ago and have been trying to settle down to doing the chores by myself. Even though it has been very tiring, I can see that the house is MUCH cleaner, neater and cosier without a cleaner to help me.
I just got home after driving to town to run some errands and was stunned when I read THIS LINK that T.O. sent me.

Three in ten children live in households that do not contain a single book, a poll has found.
The survey of more than 18,000 youths across the country has shown large numbers do not own any books or read on their own, fuelling slumping education standards.
This was coupled with the finding that children with no books are two-and-a-half times more likely to fall below the expected reading level for their age. CLICK HERE for more.
I cannot emphasize enough the importance of a good reading habit for everyone. This holiday, do try to take your children to the public library or book shop. Encourage them to read a book or an e-book and fill their time with interesting reading assignments.
Let's do our part to make reading a worthwhile and enriching hobby, not just for our children, but for everyone. Take care and have a lovely day!
