I am just so shocked because:
- between 2008 and 2009 she recruited women from Malaysia and organised for them to come to Australia on student visas but forced them into the flesh trade
- she cunningly chose victims who spoke little or no English and were told they would have to work until they paid off the cost of their airfare, visa and course fees - amounting to debts of up to $5800
- she showed no remorse
- she had treated the women “not as human beings but as commodities - machines to make money”
- she made the victims parade in front of customers with only numbers to identify them
- she forced victims to carry out demeaning and harmful sexual acts under threat of deportation, including having unprotected sex
- and more horrifying acts
Sentenced a maximum of six years, the earliest date for her release is May 30, 2016.
