Dr. Tony Wagner, co-director of Harvard's Change Leadership Group has identified what he calls a "global achievement gap," which is the leap between what even our best schools are teaching, and the must-have skills of the future:

* Critical thinking and problem-solving
* Collaboration across networks and leading by influence
* Agility and adaptability
* Initiative and entrepreneurialism
* Effective oral and written communication
* Accessing and analyzing information
* Curiosity and imagination

    Chahya Hi Paula,
    Chahya here. Regrettably, it's been quite some time since we last communicate with each other. I'm still grappling with time management issues and blogging has to be chucked in the low priority list of things to do at the moment.

    It's interesting to note that despite all the advances of ICT and the promise of infinite possibilities for learning and creativity it brings along, the skills mentioned are yet to be significantly achieved globally. This to me indicate the need for quality educators, to find means and ways to bring these skills back in the learning system. Quality educators could never be replaced regardless of the sophistication of technologies.

    Keep in touch dear MWS and hope we'll meet again in blogosphere.

    Unknown My dear Chahya

    Indeed it is such a heartwarming experience to hear from you again - especially after such a long lapse.

    You are one of my first blogger friends and the connection is always there. That's the beauty of genuine friendships even though we have never met.

    Like you, I also have time management issues as there is so much to do and so little time to accomplish/chase our dreams.

    I do apologise for this late response. Older now, I am also quite forgetful!

    Truly, I am glad you enjoyed this post which offers so much value to many of us. And you are spot on - nothing can replace the human touch in education. Thanks again for sharing such a lucid response.

    Take care and please keep in touch!

    Salam
