WHY EVERYONE MUST VOTE AT THE NEXT GENERAL ELECTION

Sometimes we take life for granted..sometimes we even take voting for granted. Do you know that voting is vital for a democratic country?

Imagine this conversation:

“The Government is useless, there is nothing they can do to make our lives better. The rising prices, the unemployment, the escalating crime rate etc. they have no answers”, said Ah Meng.

“Well, if you are really concerned about all these things, you should have voted, Ah Meng!”, said Joven. “Maybe a better candidate would have won, and may be he would have taken some effective measures for improvement…Unless you vote you cannot blame the government!”

Well if you are one of those people who think voting is a waste of time but keep on complaining about how our government is a complete failure; then it is time you realize the importance of voting. Do your bit towards enhancing the governmen! Here are some reasons why people should vote…

1. Vote in an election for a state councillors, ADUNs, Members of Parliament etc because they have the rights to formulate policies that will affect :

* your children and descendants,your loved ones and friends
* your job
* your taxes
* your town
* your country
* your entire life

2. Voting gives you the right to choose the leader that YOU want

3. People elected set the educational policies which in turn shape the future of children and the nation.

4. Elected representatives have the power to decide most vital issues in our life. Health care, highways, jobs, taxes or even food.

5. So would you be comfortable in letting “anybody” take over these powers?

6. Voting is necessary for a healthy democracy.

7. If you are a registered voter, exercise your right to opinion. Your right to vote is your right to expression and opinion. Do not take your right for granted.

Take leave to go back to your hometown no matter how inconvenient. Try and appreciate the power of voting.

You can make the difference. EXERCISE IT. REGISTER TO VOTE TODAY.

*Many thanks to Romerz for this comment which I have included in this post :
Even if you don't believe that a single vote may count or that none of the candidates or parties offered are up to your mark, you should still register as a voter or at least turn up at the polls.

This will make it more difficult for cheating to take place.

If you do not wish to vote for anyone but by going to the polls to claim your ballot, you would have at least made it more difficult for someone else who covets your vote.

    nick Good morning Sis,

    Malaysia is truly unique where normal Malaysian are so frustrated with the government that some of them reacted by boycotting the GE or even worse not even bothered to be registered as voter. But that's not the unique part, whats unique is that the government have very strong supporters that a number of them even voted in the last GE from beyond the grave!
    They must be ghost voters, some of you may shout but Nah! The SPR says their electoral roll are super duper clean so there is no GHOST VOTER! There's only some voter who are so concerned with their duty as a citizen and a strong supporter of the gomen, that they literally leave their resting place, walked down to the election center, queue up along with other malaysian citizen ( maybe stike up a conversation while they are waiting)and vote! Malaysia Moo..leh! MJ's thriller video anyone???

    Have a nice day Sis.

    Hamba.

    Unknown Good morning Nick!

    Indeed there are those among us who are so disheartened that they believe that their vote makes no difference to the bigger picture in the light of circumstances and trends. how wrong they are!!!Every vote counts and can make THAT little difference so this is the time for people to exercise their democratic right to vote the RIGHT government that should rightfully rule this country!

    Ah - I am watching MJ's "This is it" later and I hope that voters too will say "THIS IS IT" when they march to the polling booth to vote in the new government.

    Have a good day, Nick.

    Salam

    Thanks for highlighting that point which I overlooked.

    If you do not mind, I will add it to the main post and credit to you.

    Once again, thanks for being a concerned Malaysian and being of the same mind...

    Have a great day and a wonderful week.

    Warmest wishes
