WE WILL OVERCOME!

I am glad that there are many Malaysians who are optimistic, hopeful and actively mooting change in their lives and community. If we were to subject ourselves to pessimism, then there would be no more hope for Malaysia. The truth is - there IS hope.

If not, why is RPK doing what he is doing and why was he willing to pay such a heavy price for a better tomorrow?

If there is no hope, why is DSAI immovable in his quest to establish PR as the ruling party?

If hope has disappeared from the face of this country, why is Dato Nizar and his team still so dedicated in his mission for Perakians despite all that they had gone through?

If Lim Guan Eng had given up hope after being imprisoned, do you think he would be the Chief Minister of Penang today?

If Kelantanese had given up hope in PAS, do you think PAS would be as influential today?

There are so many LIVING examples of shining Malaysians who exemplify hope for a new dawn in Malaysia.

We will be steadfast and immovable in our faith that NO MATTER HOW DARK THE DAY, A NEW DAY WILL COME.

And this is not blind hope or vision....

This is HOPE - confident expectation...that things will get better.

We will overcome!!! And it has to begin with you and me...we must do our part...

Check out my post on MURPHY'S LAW IN MALAYSIA if you have not read it before.

Here's an inspirational tale to round up my post for today...

Have a nice day and do share your thoughts if you have the time. Thanks!

This parable is told of a farmer who owned an old mule. The mule fell into the farmer’s well. The farmer heard the mule praying or whatever mules do when they fall into wells. After carefully assessing the situation, the farmer sympathized with the mule, but decided that neither the mule nor the well was worth the trouble of saving. Instead, he called his neighbors together, told them what had happened, and enlisted them to help haul dirt to bury the old mule in the well and put him out of his misery.

Initially the old mule was hysterical! But as the farmer and his neighbors continued shoveling and the dirt hit his back, a thought struck him. It suddenly dawned on him that every time a shovel load of dirt landed on his back, HE WOULD SHAKE IT OFF AND STEP UP!

This he did, blow after blow. “Shake it off and step up…shake it off and step up…shake it off and step up!” He repeated to encourage himself. No matter how painful the blows, or how distressing the situation seemed, the old mule fought panic and just kept right on SHAKING IT OFF AND STEPPING UP!

It wasn’t long before the old mule, battered and exhausted, stepped triumphantly over the wall of that well! What seemed like it would bury him actually helped him . . . all because of the manner in which he handled his adversity.

THAT’S LIFE! As we face our problems, let us respond to them positively, and refuse to give in to panic, bitterness, or self-pity.

Take care everyone. Keep safe and stay happy always!

jtba May I share a quote by Albert Einstein ...

" The World is a dangerous place not because of people who do evil , but because of those who look on and do nothing "

Let's hope we all do the correct things and make it less " dangerous " for our Children, and their Children's children .

Thanks a lot JTBA for adding balance to my post. In my other posts, I had been advocating tolerance, resilience, restraint and a non-retaliation move by all Malaysians and I thought I'd better not overkill the topic.

Your quote has reminded me that the call to moderation, sense and sensibility is essential. We have to be reminded that we must act with prudence, upright morals and in an exemplary manner for the next generation..Our children must not be subjected to security issues.

Thank you for your wisdom. Take care and have a nice day.

    Unknown Dear Saudara Hafiz

Many thanks to you for being a very supportive blog reader and friend and for your care, concern and appreciation. I am truly touched.

Many people do not understand why I am doing this - including my family because I am not earning anything from blogging and have to spend money maintaining my systems etc. The truth is, this is a small contribution that I am making to my beloved country...a humble contribution which I hope can somehow, miraculously effect change in as many of my readers as possible.

Thanks for your concern for an old lady like me :-). In the event that I expire one day, my son has been given strict instructions that he MUST continue to maintain my blog. He has been given the specific instructions as well :-) and has dutifully agreed :-).

Take care and may the Almighty bless you and yours wonderfully.

Village Boy To remain undefeated by troubles and triumph over them is both the challenge and inherent strength of the young.

Nevertheless, you must not lose your vitality even as you grow older. You aren't an old lady yet, mind you! No, no, no, haha!

Please remain youthful throughout your life. Please forever continue to have the heart of a young lady.

    Please be healthy and optimistic.

    God bless

Carry on - you unstoppable you!

    Unknown Dear Denim Guy,

My thoughts about journalism have been expressed in my posts labeled JOURNALISM in this blog. I have written a lot about it in this blog and have no wish to repeat myself. Do check it out if you have time. Thanks.

Take care and wishing you happiness and a wonderful day.

    Cheers

    Unknown Dear Village Boy

:-) Thanks for that encouraging message! Yes, I do feel like a young lady although physically, my heart is quite old haha...

From my experiences, I have learned that trials and testing produce endurance, character and resilience. Worry only cripples and prevents us from realizing our potential and prevents us from allowing miracles to happen.

Thanks so much - I am trying to maintain my vitality and zeal for life via meditation, prayer, reading inspirational literature and also via a healthy diet, supplements and exercise.

I want to live to a ripe old age to see and carry my grandchildren...life is so short and I really hope to see many things happen within my lifetime - that hope gives me the impetus to carry on..

Certainly I am optimistic :-) and I know you are too. In fact, you as well as many readers and commenters infuse my blog with so much optimism and that is something that touches me deeply and it is also deeply appreciated.

Take care and have a lovely day!

    Shalom

Anonymous Consider the Greek myth of Pandora's Box

"Zeus was terribly mad when the titan Prometheus stole the fire from the gods and gave it to man. That's why he decided to punish all mankind (which, until then, had lived in a state of perpetual bliss and innocence, the Golden Age)."

"So Pandora opened the box (or the jar, whatever it was), which contained, instead of real gifts, just evil and plagues. All of them flew out of Pandora's box and spread into the world: crime, poverty, pain, hunger, sickness, vice."

"This wonderful creature was Hope. When Pandora's box was opened again, Hope managed to fly away and to go around the world and heal the wounds produced by the plagues. But, as she escaped much later, she is always the last one to arrive. That's why, when people are harassed by problems, the only thing that helps them go ahead is hope."

What is Hope and why is it so potent?

"Hope is a belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one's life. Hope is the feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best."

"It may be worthy to note that in the story, hope is represented as weakly leaving the box but is in effect far more potent than any of the major evils. In some faiths and religions of the world, hope plays a very important role. Hope can be passive in the sense of a wish, or active as a plan or idea, often against popular belief, with persistent, personal action to execute the plan or prove the idea."

So, in any oppressive regime, the ultimate aim is to quell hope. However,

    "Hope springs eternal in the human breast;
Man never Is, but always To be blest:
The soul, uneasy and confin'd from home,
Rests and expatiates in a life to come."

    Alexander Pope

Here is an article on the Science of Hope

"The scientists discovered positive future events led to increased activity in the same brain clusters that seem to malfunction in depression—the amygdala, which helps form and store emotional memories, and the rostral anterior cingulate, which helps regulate emotional responses. The researchers also found that when volunteers had optimistic personalities, as rated by psychological exams, these brain clusters activated more."

"Although extreme optimism can lead people to underestimate risks and put themselves in harm's way, a moderate level of hopefulness "has been linked to physical and mental health," Phelps told LiveScience. "A little optimism helps promote actions that lead to good outcomes. Not everything in life will turn out great, but if you thought everything will turn out bad, you'd never do anything.""

To quell hope is to destroy one's humanity and reduce one to a zombie.

A Arthur BN is now totally out of touch with reality and with the rakyat. The PM and his First Lady have been accused of alleged murder but still get away with it so far. The DPM has a brain the size of a pea and is located at the rear and he sits on it most of the time. The HM always like to frontpage himself giving away a citizenship or two to long deserved cases. And he fumbled, back-pedaled, said the press misquoted him and all sorts of nonsense which is unbecoming of a Minister like him. The Defense Minister was quick to say the 2 lost jet engines only cost a miserable sum. The Deputy Trade Minister sits on the board of San Miguel in spite he is a Muslims. We have an AG who make sure that justice is done to his own ilk. We have an IGP where RPK gave him a good run for his money, while his lowly paid officers hide in nooks and corners to catch people jumping red lights and not stopping at junctions. Then we also have a lot of dog and pony shows in the make of a few Royal Commission, but Lingam is still a free man sipping his teh tarik at home cos he cannot come out of his house. Other Ministers be they black or white or grey are no better. The Transport Minister is fighting for his life in maintaining his position. The Health Minister neglected his portfolio and wanted the top post in MCA. The Deputy Education Minister is full of lies and cried like a baby. The Tourism Minister wanted to trade-mark some nasi-lemak and signature dishes (not so bad after all as there is no collateral damage done to the whole system). The KPI Minister is only a senator who got booted out and is now living on the alms dished out by his Masters. One can always see his picture tagging behind some Ministers. His once glorious party led by one Dr Lim should now be renamed as Un-Gerakan. The Indians under MIC still wanted to say that they have the Indians support and is in disarray. The CM of Sarawak and Sabah are very happy man and wanted their empires to continue to rule the Land of Hornbill and the Land Below The Wind. The MB of Seremban was caught remitting rm10 million out. This is unfortunate as they only caught him once. The MB of Perak is an illigitimate as 3 frogs decided to swim together with him in the same filth. The MB of Malacca can just thumb his nose to its state rakyat as the PM still supports him though he is caught red handed with money politics. The bloody old war horse with the highest honorific title of Tun keeps pouring fuel over the fire and his usual card is racism. The previous PM can do his bit for the country but he is keeping quiet as he is enjoying his money and it is better not to stick his neck too far. Most of the super corridors are now empty corridors. Now AMNO wanted the trade mark of their ONE GOD all by themselves for they do not like their people to get confused. Fortunately we have some silver lining in the death of Augustine Paul who perverted justice and whose family name now lives in shame. And then a number of them are caught red-handed in corruption though they are still a free man or woman. But all these the rakyat knows. For the past twenty years in SE Asia we have witnessed the downfall of Marcos, Suhatto, Khmer Rouge, Shinawatra, the lost of KMT to Chen Shui-Bian who is now behind bars and back to KMT again, the lost of LDP in Japan for the first time in 54 years, some corruption king-pins in China being executed, past presidents of S Korea being indicted for corruption and a whole host of the "good forces overcoming the bad forces". Let us pray that there are more issues from the ruling regime so that their downfall can be hastened, but then again this is not so good a prayer as the rakyat will suffer. So this has got to get worse before it gets better. Thank you for your encouragement, MWS. The darkest hour is before the dawn though the dawn may be some light years away relatively, but it is still a hope. Amen.
