DECEPTICONS IN DECEPTION

As a Transformers fan thanks to my two boys, I realize that we do not have to go to the cinema to see Decepticons fighting around in a Transformers movie because we have Decepticons in our midst who are Masters of Deception!

The Decepticons are usually depicted as the Antagonists in the fictional universes of the Transformers toyline and related comics and cartoons, and the enemies of the Autobots.

In many ways, the Malaysian Decepticons are the villains who take many forms and are led by the Malaysian Megatron. Most significantly, these Decepticons have power, influence, status and resources that the Malaysian Autobots sorely lack.

This post is truncated. Click the next link to read more.

The Decepticons of this country regard the rest of us to be a dumb lot on this part of the world and assume that we are a passive audience to swallow their propaganda coated with sloganeering lock, stock and barrel.

For the rest of us 'normal' beings, it is a norm to believe that any act or word to deceive others are not moral, even lying for that matter although sometimes, white lies could be entertained if it can prevent a loved one from coming to great harm.

Some argue that there is nothing intrinsically wrong in deceit or deceptions which are justified whenever good consequences outweigh the bad ones. Then there are those who often argue that it IS wrong to deceive others such as what the Decepticons do of course. Obviously, when the Decepticons do cheat or lie, they try to cover their tracks and feign ignorance.

Deception is often destructive as it hinders one from assessing the true situation, and from acting concordant with one's interests and moral commitments. Often, deception is used by malicious third parties for purposes of control to lead others into the path of self-destruction.

When considering whether it is justified to deceive another, think of the immediate effect on the
individual deceived directly, and also the continuing repercussions of that behaviour. Some points to consider:
  • One lie begets another. When a pretence is established, it must be maintained thereafter by further deception.
  • Be sensitive to your conscience. Liars are robbed of their conscience when led to tell more frequent and more serious lies. They resort to using deception as a first, rather than a last, resort when encountering problems.
  • When deception mushrooms, trust in people or institutions or the government is undermined thereby making it difficult for society to function as a cohesive and stable unit.

Plato and Machiavelli enjoined leaders to practice deception. Through Socrates, Plato argued that citizens should be encouraged, in the interests of harmony and stability, to accept as truth a ‘noble lie’, under which all men are brothers through the earth, and assigned to a particular social station by the gods.

The ultra-realist Machiavelli, on the other hand, averred that politics is an arena in which traditional moral judgements simply do not apply, and accordingly advised his prince to resort to deception and other sharp practices in order to shore up his rule.

Remember both of them DID NOT believe in the democratic ideal. We are different from them because we believe in the democratic ideal so any instance of governmental deception must be rejected as harmful. Why?

1. Citizens cannot think logically or rationally whether particular policies are in their interests.

2. They would be handicapped to accurately assess the track records of their assemblymen.

3. Inter-personal relationships, any form of political deception in the political sphere subverts and misdirects rational, reflective choice.

4. When deception goes undetected, LIARS and DECEPTICONS may be goaded by their triumph and then, as can be seen in many cases, rely more readily on dishonest means to achieve their ends,

The worse thing is, once the gravy train is running, it offsets and and instigates a culture of deception among the political elite. Is this what we see today???

5. Once lies, deceit and deception are exposed, voters may lose trust in those that govern on their behalf, and cease to engage in political activity, believing that all politicians are ‘as bad as each other’, and that none are worthy of support. Could this be one reason for political apathy of some voters and why some have not even registered to be a voter?

Deception and secrecy motivated by personal gain can easily be glossed as necessary for ‘official reasons’. But what are the vital interests of the state? Is there a situation where it can legitimately be promoted by deceptive means?

If that is the case, on what grounds can politicians determine when they may lie to their people?
Whatever their rationale for a project, they must be present these openly to citizens who must then endorse these to further establish confidence and stability in the government. Can this happen if DECEPTICONS continue to storm the face of this part of our planet?

What then should be our response to deception that occurs in institutions of the state and civil society? For one, the rakyat must always keep an eye on the leaders by scrutinizing public government documents and records to ensure that the activities of politicians and civil servants are monitored and corroborated.

Secondly, whistle-blowers must receive legal protection, rather than be charged for breaching official secrecy legislation.

As seen in the Watergate scandal, the MSM must be alert in the investigation and uncovering of government deception.

We must realize that any form of deception prevents open democracy as voters cannot deliberate knowledgeably in such a way that their representatives are accountable for their actions or lack of it. Unjustified lying must be monitored and prevented and rakyat, PLEASE SPEAK UP AGAINST THIS via the right channels, especially via your ADUNs and Members of Parliament. It is up to us now to rid our country of the Decepticons of Deception!!! Too many are running around wrecking havoc and the rot has to stop NOW!

Thanks for reading this post. Please leave a comment if you wish to share your thoughts. Have a restful evening!

    A Arthur Well put MWS.

But they are not really Masters of Deception. If they are then the rakyat would not know it at all.

They tried to but failed miserably. Then we have the TweedleDee GP and the TweedleDum MH who bungled all the way.

Now we have seen their faces, we have seen through all their deceits, we have an inkling of what would be the outcome of many of the court hearings that are not favorable to them and they are still living in a deceitful encapsulated world of their own.

All we hope is that the rakyat will wake up sooner than before.

Thank you for keeping up the pressure for a tyrant will never last. It is in all of history that the day of reckoning will catch up with these deceitful people who hold on to power by playing all the cards that goes against the grain of humanity, racialism, injustice, inequality and the sentiments of the religion and the not-much informed and internet savvy rural people.

Thank you for writing all these, MWS

Very well put, Arthur. Like you, I hope those tyrants will be knocked out soon. For far too long, evil has reigned and it is time righteousness, truth and justice rules and put to death the social ills bred by scheming little devils on earth. You are most welcome...Take care and my deepest appreciation to you for your thoughtful and accurate comments.

    Cheers

    Unknown Dear Dr. Bala

I am a cartoon and anime fan :-) so it was natural for me to relate the events and villains of this country to those in the comic world :-).

Megatron is a character from the Transformers franchise, created by toy companies Hasbro and Takara. He is the primary antagonist and leader of the "evil" faction (primarily the Decepticons) in most of the various Transformers universes.

    From Wikipedia:

Megatron is very powerful and utterly ruthless. There have been several interpretations of his character; some see Megatron as a strategic leader who calls the shots from afar, whilst others see him as a tactical battlefield commander who leads by brutal example.

Unlike many other villains in popular fiction, Megatron was not generally depicted as overly chaotic or insane (at first). He was highly aggressive and a megalomaniac, but there was usually a consistent rationale behind his actions, although Megatron was often the only one who could perceive this.

There have been some sparing occasions where Megatron displays a personal sense of fair play and even honor, a complexity that is most evident in his complicated relationship with Optimus Prime.

There is an unspoken mutual respect between the two leaders, born of each knowing the other better than anyone else. Megatron at times seems to derive enjoyment from the perpetual conflict that exists between them — the pleasure of ending the life of Optimus Prime will be Megatron's and Megatron's alone, and to ensure this, he has aided Prime in the face of greater threats, such as the Combaticons or Jhiaxus's second generation Cybertronians.

In instances such as these, the two have come to face the fact that were it not for their diametrically opposed ideology and views, in another life, the two could be comrades — a fact that Optimus Prime views as a tragedy, but which provides Megatron with amusement.

    InjusticeSistem How true..NOT
In da movie, in BOTH da movie as well as the series, Autobots always win....well....95% of da time.
But here da Decepticon wins ALL DA TIME. I guess da problem is most Transformer Fans in Malaysia cant differentiate Good Autobots from Bad Decepticon.....I don blame them, da movie as well as da cartoon are shown in English....so dia orang tak paham kot(snicker)....
So finally we can conclude da Transformer Fans in Malaysia are deaf, blind n dumb cos dey hear no evil see no evil n do not speak of the forbidden word...evil...

  1. says:

Unknown Very sharp observation, InjusticeSistem. It is outrageous that some cannot tell the difference between Good Autobods from the bad ones. Perhaps this is the result of a constant supply of lies and myths so even those are perceived to be truths.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Have a great weekend!

    * The Watergate affair, held up as demonstrating the free press, was a triviality. Nixon was being punished; he had upset his masters by dismantling the Bretton Woods financial system. Yet he was not held responsible for the "secret" bombing of Cambodia which killed about 150,000 people; the Senate merely noted it as an action he had failed to re-port. The press failed to publicise this bombing or the massive undermining of political freedom by the FBI, under every administration since Roosevelt, now being exposed in the courts and through FOIA. These operations included organizing riots to destroy the Black movement, attacks on the Native American and women's movements, and 15 years of harassing the Socialist Workers Party. - Prof. Noam Chomsky, Understanding Power, 2002, adapted

Morality revolves around sex; politicians must resign the moment they are caught with their pants down. Corrupt and dishonest politicians are tolerated, often get re-elected, and can do just about anything: extort, intimidate, abduct, torture, imprison, murder or drop bombs on crowded cities.

Many thanks for your kind selection of quotations. I appreciate the effort you always make to add value to my post with your contributions.

This selection of excerpts emphasize and remind us of the pathetic state that we are living in at the moment. May God deliver us out of this saddening scenario. Take care and have a lovely evening.
