This movie is about a group of teenage boys who discuss the attributes of the perfect girl and then proceed to create a mental image of their dreamboat. Later they find her in the form of Jean, the new telephone operator in town.
One of the lads, Sanford Wilson, falls in love with this beautiful girl. They begin dating, but as final exams approach, Sanford must temporarily shift his attention to his school work. To keep her from the other less-honorable boys who want her, he has handsome Lieutenant Langley Beaumont squire her around. Unfortunately, she and Langley soon fall in love, causing the anguished Sanford to join the military and leave for a year and a half. To know more about the movie, CLICK HERE.
This evening, I am blogging not about the movie but about the song. I cannot believe that such a politically incorrect song became popular in the late 1950's. The lyrics of the song have been posted after the video.
I cannot imagine how the suffragettes reacted to this song. I totally disagree with the technique here but enjoy the tongue-in-cheek humor and wit though.
What do the guys think of the technique advocated in the song? Would you or have you ever tried it? How do the ladies feel about this technique? Has any guy ever treated you this way?
TECHNIQUE
This post is truncated. Click the next link to read more.
From the film "Barnardine (1957)
(Johnny Mercer)
Pat Boone - 1957
You love 'em, you leave 'em
That's what is known as technique
The more you deceive 'em
The more they like your technique
They have the feminine mind
Which is something like being colour-blind
We keep 'em guessing and that is how
We out manoeuvre womankind
Ooohhh, de women folk
They back is broad, they brain is weak
Soooo, they pigeon for the bachelor technique
Strong arm them, caveman them
They're unimpressed with the male physique
The more you defend them
The more they like your technique
Some like the arrogant stare
Others like the shy retiring air
While there are others who like you best of all
When you ain't even there
Ooohhh, de women folk
They shape is fine, they brain is weak
Soooo, they pigeon for the bachelor technique
Protect them, respect them
They mental process is quite unique
The more you neglect them
The more they like your technique
Some like you tipping the hat
Little civilized attentions like that
So keep in mind when you kiss the hand
You are also skinning the cat
Ooohhh, de women folk
They face is fair, they brain is weak
Soooo, they pigeon for the bachelor technique
To make 'em jump through the ring
Or to keep 'em dangling on a string
You find out what they want you to do
And you do the opposite thing
The less you caress them
The more they turning the other cheek
The more you outguess them,
The more they like your technique
(Whistling)
So just remember what I have told you
And always keep it in mind
We keep 'em guessing and that is how
We out manoeuvre womankind
I repeat now, keep 'em guessing and that is how
We out manoeuvre womankind!
Keep 'em guessing and that is how
We out manoeuvre womankind!
Do leave a comment for I would love to hear your thoughts and views on this matter. Thanks! Have a great evening and a blessed week ahead!
