Those of you who follow Antares' blog would be well aware of the magnitude of the problems caused by the recent oil spill in the Gulf. The effects are escalating with catastrophic vulnerability concerning the wellhead. Experts say a huge and very toxic gas bubble has formed and extreme pressure is building - fissures have already developed and they are predicting real possibility of volcanic like explosion producing tsunami and other major events.

Some of us may not realize how these effects can impact us. If you have the time, please check out the following:

Photos that will shock you can be viewed at THIS LINK.

A posting HERE in my other blog on Tragedy in the Gulf.

Mother Earth is bleeding and we have to pay the price of man's greed. On a local level, we face the same scenario where the corrupt and greedy have bled the nation dry and we have yet to come to grips with the folly and greed of evil-doers in our nation.

I know I said I would do a sopo post this morning but I have been caught up in reading and watching videos/viewing photos on this horrendous tragedy. My mind is still reeling from the shock of the damning evidence.

When will they ever learn? Perhaps never?

Johan H The impact of this hasn't reached Malaysia yet but I'm sure it will, eventually, in the increased costs of everything touched by the oil economy. While BP is the lightning rod in this tragedy, they are not the root cause. The chief motivator behind oil exploration and all its accidents is demand... from us the consumers whose lifestyle screams for more oil. We are hooked and will fiercely reject any idea of cutting down. We're not even friendly to renewable energy. As long as that remains, these accidents are bound to continue. If its not BP, it'll be some other oil company but whoever it is, the common thing behind it all is us.

You asked a good question at the end: when will they ever learn? May I also add when will WE ever learn.

Lovely to hear from you again.

Thank you for your wise and informed input. You are so right in that the causes and effects of this tragedy is more than what we see at the moment.

We cannot deny that each one of us is indirectly responsible for this because of the insatiable demand for energy as you have rightly identified.

Frankly, I do not think we will ever learn...perhaps for a spell but when the winds of normalcy blow, it is likely to start all over again.

    Sighs.

Take care and God bless you honest comment.

    Best wishes

Anonymous It is so frightening and what a nightmare for the residents there. It takes thousand of years to form the fragile and delicate marines life but just one costly mistake of mankind for it to be destroyed.

When we go against nature and the creation of the Almighty, we are killing humanity slowly but surely. When human being were tasked to be good stewards, it was not relating to monetary systems alone. But it involves the preservation of the fragile eco-systems and also the jungles.

There must be a balance otherwise we are destroying this mother earth before its time and the future generation will reap the consequences of our folly.

Indeed the consequences are painful and long-lasting. Many are not bothered about conservation or preservation of the delicate ecosystem to our detriment. I fear it might already be too late and that we might reap the consequences of man's indifference and greed within our lifetime! May God help us!

Take care and God bless you always.

    Shalom
