One To Touch You

Growing old is a difficult process. I am half a century old. Gosh! I can be a museum artifact. Some of you may be older or younger but whatever stage you may be in, I am sure you have had to take care of an older member of the family, be it your parents, grandparents or relatives.

This morning, I was chatting with my former classmate via FB and we were reminiscing about our school days and how in time to come, each of us will go, one by one. Both of us agreed that this is the time to reconnect with our friends and loved ones so that before we die, at least we have mended bridges or said whatever we did not say but should have said in the past.

Then we started talking about our parents. Alexandra used to sit in front of me in class and as I visited her often, I remember her mom and grandmom fondly. So that put me in a very sentimental mood as I have been thinking of my parents a lot. It has been 37 years since my mom passed away and I still remember the last week of her life as if it just happened yesterday. And it has been almost four years since my father died. And I really miss them so. :-(

The dam burst when I watched this video that Angela sent me today. It really made me realize what might befall me when I get old, feeble, and cannot blog any more, cannot talk or walk etc. I sent it to my sons. My older boy was very touched and messaged me on FB and then I called him. My younger one will only be home at 5pm.

Watch this VIDEO AT THIS LINK and be touched.

Cherish, treasure the moments/memories ....

Live, love and touch others with your life....

We only have one life. Let's live it to the fullest and always love, respect, cherish our parents, grandparents, children and loved ones.

Take care and do share your thoughts. Thanks!

walla It could be the dilemma of all life. We have two components. Body and spirit. When young, both are able and willing so much so they are inseparable. In the process of growing old, there is a transition - from physical ability to spiritual ability. When was the blessing of energy when young transmutes to the blessing of wisdom when old. Seen in this light, age will be as welcomed as youth because both are two sides of the inevitable coin of given life.

Now the mechanics of life is simple. When young, do as much as possible within limits of good health in order to accumulate both material and spiritual merits. When old, leverage on lessons learned, observations made, conclusions drawn and experiences absorbed to develop a world-view that can help guide oneself and others on one's last leg of the journey.

In the entire journey from young to old, there will be up's and down's. Material gains and losses, hopes built and dashed, pain endured, happiness experienced...these are but items on the menu of change.

One inevitable item is loss of those one loves. This could also mean losing the love of someone one is fond of. It is natural to have the feeling of loss but it is unnatural to feel it to such an extent as to overwhelm one's internal rhythm to finish one's own journey. The person or persons who have left wouldn't want that to happen to the one who loves and misses them.

Because they, like the journey of life itself, were in leaving just making their own natural transition.

Be of good cheer, masterwordsmith. As the ad says, because you deserve it.

You bring ticklish joy to people whom you may never meet; you bring focus to issues which impact all today and here. Age and status have not struck you down. Because your spirit remains strong. Just keep that heart pumping and the muscles flexed for more wisdom ahead.

patches Thank you for this video - i cried too... reminds me of how impatient I was with my mum and how unkind some of my words were to her but she never complained or said anything - just kept quiet. In fact after her death, i realised that i loved her and whenever i told her that, she said i know - i said so i don't know why you irk me so and she said because you're you but you're my lovely daughter.
I am still praying for forgiveness.

Thank you soooooooooooooooooooo much for such a beautiful response to the post/video. I watched the video five times today -three times on my own, once with my younger boy and another time with my husband - and cried all five times :-(.

Life is so precious. More and more each day, I am so glad to be alive and thankful when I wake up to discover that I have yet another day to live.

And I ask myself, "What am I going to give to the world today?"

My blog keeps my going because of the energy I put in it to let it run and in the process, am blessed by the input of commenters, especially yours.

Thank you so much for putting things into a nut shell to let me see things in the right perspective and remember what is worth remembering, forgetting the pain and letting go of the past to make today a better day that my past can be better and the future brighter.

Thanks for your words of wisdom and encouragement, for touching my heart and that of those who love your writings.

You take care, Walla, and please stay in touch!

    Am blessed to know you.

    Warmest regards

Thank you so much for such an honest and unabashedly honest response to this post and the video. You are most welcome. Thanks to Angela for sharing this. It is my pleasure to share it with my readers and I am truly glad it struck a chord in your heart.

I can identify with what you have shared for I was also sometimes impatient with my late father, much to my regret. Like you, I am also praying for forgiveness - for him to forgive me, and for me to forgive myself.

We are only human, and yet in our imperfections, God will somehow heal us and make us whole. It is the journey to healing that seems to be long, somewhat painful - but a road that brings much growth, awakening and enrichment.

Take care and may God bless you and yours. Do keep in touch.

    Warmest regards
    mws
