The Blues Brothers

The past few days have been utterly heavenly for me as my older son came home on Tuesday night and will be going home this afternoon. It has been especially meaningful for this time, my two boys bonded beautifully. Jon is 23 while Nick is only 14.

When Nick was born in 1998, Jon was ecstatic. Finally, after such a long wait, he could carry his baby brother. Then, he was in Standard Three when the stork flew in.

The first two years were fine but as time passed, they were not particularly close during their growing up years as both played different games/toys and had contrasting personalities. In character and looks, Jon takes after me whilst Nick takes after his dad. However, both love music and play the violin, piano and guitar. Jon also plays the ukelele and the melodica.

This time round, the two boys really bonded via their love for music, especially in jazz improvisation.

My heart is heavy as I write this post at 10.51 a.m. because in a short while, I will have to take them to Queensbay. After lunch, my older boy will leave for K.L.

The whole time he was here, I tried my very best to persuade him to return to Penang for good :-( but alas, he said.."Give me a few more years, mom."

He has my blessings to chase his dreams in another part of the country but I will always miss him. Still, I am glad I have Nick with me before he flies off in the future.

Here's a clip of the boys doing impromptu jazz improvisation after dinner last night. All the older brother did was to give him the motif and chords - thereafter it was impromptu jamming.

Have a lovely day!

Mira Your sons are outstandingly talented Paula, thanks for sharing the video. Since Jon is into contemporary, I can't hardly wait to hear him perform with a distortion pedal :)

You will, that is for sure! Your kids are well brought up and very active. Surely there will be lots of great music being played at home with your good voice booming through the walls :-). Our families must get together and jam together! Give me a tinkle whenever you are free. We have yet to make it for teh tarik! Great to hear from you...How time flies! Thank you for stopping by to share your response and blessings which I receive thankfully! God bless! Stay in touch and blessed Christmas to your beautiful family.

    Shalom

It has been great to get to know you. Thank you for your kind and encouraging comment! Yes, Jon has a few types of pedals both for the guitar and his violins. It is a pity his electric violin is kaput. Do come over to jam with us next week when he is back again. However, my guitar amplifier is in KL. Would be great if you brought yours to my place. I think I still have many cables :-) though. Take care and see you again soon!

    Hugs
