The World Happiness Report 2013 found Denmark to be the happiest country in the world, with its relatively close neighbours: Norway, Switzerland, Netherlands and Sweden making up the top five.
Malaysia is ranked at no. 56.
According to the report, 75% of differences in happiness could be due to:
- GDP per capita
- years of healthy life expectancy
- having someone to count on
- perception of corruption
- prevalence of generosity
- and perceived freedom to make life choices.
