Zoe: Dementia at 29

Zoe Bottrill was just 27 when her mother first noticed she was becoming forgetful and kept losing things.

By the time she was 29, the mother-of-two had been diagnosed with dementia and was unable to look after her young daughters.

She has now been in the final stages of the disease for five years and spends her days lying in the foetal position in a specially adapted chair.

    modernlifeisrubbish Hi MWS,

Such a sad story. To think her young daughter never got the chance to know her mother even when both can still see each other is a tragedy. Having this disease is like losing your soul. The body is there but the mind has gone elsewhere. It is very sad for family members.

Here are some articles i dug up. It seems 'Art' and 'Curry' (turmeric spice) seems to be a key, although a poor diet contributes to the risk of it. There's still much to learn about this disease.

For me, lots of good music, lots of reading and thinking, and lots of animated conversation with my better half helps. Hopefully...

You have a great weekend ya.

    Unknown Dear J,

Thank you so much for your warm and caring response. I shared this post because it is one of my deepest fears - to be hit by dementia. Since my accident in February this year, my memory has never been the same again. :-(

Still, I plod on, taking one day at a time and spending max quality moments with my loved ones, like what you are doing with yours :-).

Take care and thank you so much for sharing.

Stay in touch and God bless!

    Best wishes
